Laurent Dabos
Laurent Dabos (1761–1835) was a French painter of portraits and of historical and genre subjects. Life Dabos was born at Toulouse in 1761. He studied with François-André Vincent, François André Vincent, and first exhibited at the "Exposition de la Jeunesse" in 1788. His works included ''Mary of England, Queen of France, lamenting the death of her husband, Louis XII'', ''The Return of the Grande Armée'', and ''Louis XVI. writing his Will'', a picture painted in the Temple (Paris), Temple during the Execution of Louis XVI, captivity of the royal family. Besides these he painted from life the portrait of the Dauphin (Louis XVII of France, Louis XVII). He died in Paris in 1835. His wife, Jeanne Bernard Dabos, Jeanne Bernard, who was a pupil of Adelaide Labille-Guyard, Madame Guyard, also painted genre subjects. She was born at Lunéville, Luneville in 1763, and died in 1842. Horace François Bastien Sébastiani de La Porta ( co, Oraziu Francescu Bastianu Sebastiani di A Porta; 11 November 1771 – 20 July 1851) was a French general, diplomat, and politician, who served as Naval Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Minister of State under the July Monarchy. Having joined the French Revolutionary Army in his youth, Sébastiani rose through its ranks before becoming a supporter of Napoleon Bonaparte. Sébastiani was the French Consulate's emissary to The Levant, notably drafting plans to reconquer Ottoman Egypt, and later served as the Empire's Ambassador to The Porte. In the latter capacity, he attempted to increase French influence and signaled pro-Russian activities in the Danubian Principalities, thus provoking the War of 1806–1812. Honoré Gabriel Riqueti, Count of Mirabeau (; 9 March 17492 April 1791) was a leader of the early stages of the French Revolution. A noble, he had been involved in numerous scandals before the start of the Revolution in 1789 that had left his reputation in ruins. Nonetheless, he rose to the top of the French political hierarchy in the years 1789–1791 and acquired the reputation of a voice of the people. A successful orator, he was the leader of the moderate position among revolutionaries by favoring a constitutional monarchy built on the model of Great Britain. When he died (of natural causes), he was a great national hero, even though support for his moderate position was slipping away.
