Laurent Akoun
Laurent Akoun (born 1954) is an Ivorian politician. He is a member of the Ivorian Popular Front (FPI). He was Secretary General of the National Union of Teachers in Côte d'Ivoire (SYNESCI) from 1980 to 1983. He was then a member of the Ivorian Workers' Party until his imprisonment in 1992. On release, he became a member of the Secretariat of the FPI in 1993. He was elected member of the FPI in the town of Alépé Alépé is a town in south-eastern Ivory Coast. It is a Sub-prefectures of Ivory Coast, sub-prefecture of and the seat of Alépé Department in La Mé Region, Lagunes District. Alépé is also a Communes of Ivory Coast, commune. Ivory Coast, also known as Côte d'Ivoire, officially the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, is a country on the southern coast of West Africa. The Ivorian Popular Front (french: Front populaire ivoirien; abbr. FPI) is a centre-left, democratic socialist and social democratic political party in Ivory Coast. FPI was founded in exile in 1982 by history professor Laurent Gbagbo, Aboudramane Sangaré, and other allies during the one-party rule of President Félix Houphouët-Boigny. Politically inspired by the French Socialist Party, the FPI was until 2011 a full member of the Socialist International (SI). The Ivorian Party of Workers (french: Parti ivoirien des travailleurs, PIT) is a centre-left democratic socialist and social democratic, political party in Ivory Coast. It is led by Francis Wodié and was founded on April 8, 1990. The PIT ran Wodié as its candidate in both the 1995 and 2000 presidential elections. A prisoner (also known as an inmate or detainee) is a person who is deprived of liberty against their will. This can be by confinement, captivity, or forcible restraint. The term applies particularly to serving a prison sentence in a prison. English law "Prisoner" is a legal term for a person who is imprisoned. In section 1 of the Prison Security Act 1992, the word "prisoner" means any person for the time being in a prison as a result of any requirement imposed by a court or otherwise that he be detained in legal custody. "Prisoner" was a legal term for a person prosecuted for felony. It was not applicable to a person prosecuted for misdemeanour.
