Latvia Women's National Ice Hockey Team
The Latvian women's national ice hockey team represents Latvia at the International Ice Hockey Federation's IIHF Women's World Championship and is controlled by the Latvian Ice Hockey Federation ( lv, Latvijas Hokeja federācija). In recent years, participation women's hockey has increased in Latvia; the number of registered women's players grew from 74 in 2018 to 223 in 2020. Tournament record Olympic Games Latvia never qualified for an Olympic tournament. The team participated in the 2006 Olympic qualification tournament and in the Olympic pre-qualification tournaments in 2010, 2014, and 2018. Latvian Ice Hockey Federation
The Latvian Ice Hockey Federation ( lv, Latvijas Hokeja federācija), commonly abbreviated as LHF is the Sport governing body, governing body that oversees ice hockey in Latvia, including the Latvian Hockey Higher League, the Latvia women's national ice hockey team and the Latvia men's national ice hockey team. It was founded in 1931 and was admitted to the International Ice Hockey Federation, IIHF the same year. History The predecessor of the LHF, the Latvian Winter Sport Union (, LZSS) was founded in 1926, although until 1931 it focused on the promotion of bandy instead of ice hockey. The 1999 IIHF Women's World Championship qualification process was contested between 10 teams competing for the three final places in the championships. The 2018 IIHF Women's World Championship Division I was two international ice hockey tournaments organised by the International Ice Hockey Federation. 2013 IIHF Women's World Championship Division I
The Division I Group A tournament was held at DNB Arena in Stavanger, Norway, from 7 to 13 April 2013. The Division I Group B was contested from 8 to 14 April 2013 at Patinoire Iceberg in Strasbourg, France. The winners of the Division I Group A were initially presumed to be promoted to the 2015 Top Division. 2011 Women's World Ice Hockey Championships – Division I
The following teams took part in the Division I tournament which was held in Ravensburg, Germany, from April 11 to April 16. The winner of the group was promoted to the Top Division for the 2012 championships, while the last-placed team in the group was relegated to Division IB. Divisional championships changed titles for the 2012 season, so this tournament became Division IA, and Division II became Division IB.
