The Latin Grammy Award for Best Banda Album is an honor presented annually at the Latin Grammy Awards, a ceremony that recognizes excellence and creates a wider awareness of cultural diversity and contributions of Latin recording artists in the United States and internationally. The award goes to solo artists, duos, or groups for releasing vocal or instrumental albums containing at least 51% of new recordings in the banda music genre. The award was first presented to Banda el Recodo for the album ''Lo Mejor de Mi Vida'' at the 1st Latin Grammy Awards ceremony in 2000. They are the most awarded band in this category with eight wins out of eleven nominations and are followed by Los Horóscopos de Durango, the first and so far only non-Mexican performer to win, and Joan Sebastian each with two wins. Banda is a genre of Regional Mexican music and type of ensemble in which wind (mostly brass) and percussion instruments are performed. The history of banda music in Mexico dates from the middle of the 19th century with the arrival of piston brass instruments, when community musicians tried to imitate military bands. Graciela Beltrán (born December 29, 1974) is an American singer. She began singing in the Los Angeles area at the age of six at restaurants and parties. According to MTV she is "widely known as one of regional Mexican music's most influential female voices. Guadalupe Rivera Saavedra, better known by the stage name Lupillo Rivera, is an American singer and songwriter. In 2010, Rivera was awarded a Grammy Award for his album, '' Tu Esclavo y Amo''. Cuisillos De Arturo Macias
Banda Cuisillos de Arturo Macías, or simply Banda Cuisillos, are a Mexican banda group from the city of Cuisillos, Jalisco. They are well known for wearing Native American costumes in their stage performances and album photographs as a tribute to their ethnic heritage.
