The first season of ''Latin American Idol'' premiered on Sony Entertainment Television on July 12, 2006 and continued until October 27, 2006, when it was won by Venezuelan born Mayré Martínez. Auditions were held in Caracas, Bogotá, Mexico City, and Buenos Aires in the spring of 2006. The concerts started on August 30 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the host country. Concerts * First Concert: Was held on August 30, 2006. The theme of the show was "My Favorite Pop Idol". It featured clips of the contestants' make over. * Second Concert: Was held on September 6, 2006. The theme of the show was "The 80's". Latin (, or , ) is a classical language belonging to the Italic branch of the Indo-European languages. Latin was originally a dialect spoken in the lower Tiber area (then known as Latium) around present-day Rome, but through the power of the Roman Republic it became the dominant language in the Italian region and subsequently throughout the Roman Empire.
