Last Kiss
"Last Kiss" is a song released by Wayne Cochran in 1961 on the Gala label. It failed to do well on the charts. Cochran subsequently re-recorded his song for the King label in 1963. It was revived by J. Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers, who took it to number two on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 charts. Wednesday, Pearl Jam, and several international artists also covered the song, with varying degrees of success. The song was one of several teen tragedy songs from that period. The song's opening lyrics mirror the opening lyrics of Septimus Winner's "Der Deitcher's Dog". Background The song was supposedly based on the true story of Jeanette Clark and J.L. Hancock, who were both 16 years old when their car hit a tractor-trailer on a road in rural Barnesville, Georgia. The problem is that the song was recorded more than a year before the accident supposedly happened. Clark and Hancock were on a date a few days before Christmas in 1962. Black Sails In The Sunset
''Black Sails in the Sunset'' is the fourth studio album by American rock band AFI. It was released on May 18, 1999, through Nitro Records. With the addition of guitarist Jade Puget as a permanent member, it is the first AFI album to feature the current line-up of the band. Background and music The band members, sans Jade Puget, were roommates when guitarist Mark Stopholese departed AFI. Puget had just graduated from college and was living in Davey Havok's room while the band was on tour. They asked him to join the band as the new guitarist and immediately began writing the album; Puget had already written the basis for "Malleus Maleficarum". The band describes the album as forming the beginning of their subsequent sound, which contains more melodic vocals, as opposed to their first three albums, which maintain a fast, non-melodic punk sound. "God Called in Sick Today" marked the band's first ballad-style song. The album has been described stylistically as hardcore punk, horro ... Romance (David Cassidy Album)
''Romance'' is David Cassidy's seventh studio album as a solo artist and his first released by Arista Records. Released in 1985, Romance was the only studio album Cassidy released during the 1980s. Therefore, for the album ''Romance'', Arista excluded a U.S. release and released the album only in Europe, Israel, Japan, South Africa and Australia. ''Romance'' peaked at no. 20 on the UK Albums Chart in June 1985. George Michael sang on the song, "The Last Kiss" (originally recorded with different lyrics by Cliff Richard in 1981 as " Young Love"). It peaked at no. 6 in the UK Singles Chart, and charted all over Europe and in Australia. Subsequent singles from the album - "Romance (Let Your Heart Go)", "Someone" and "She Knows All About Boys" - were minor hits in comparis ...
