Las Marujitas
Las Marujitas are a group of three female characters originally created by Ecuadorian writer in the play ''La Marujita se ha muerto con leucemia'' who went on to appear in several spin-offs and related pieces. They were played by the actresses Juana Guarderas (Abrilla), Martha Ormaza (Encarna), and Elena Torres (Cleta) until Ormaza's death in 2018. History In 1986, wrote a play named ''La Marujita Donoso se ha muerto de leucemia'' (La Marujita Donoso Has Died of Leukemia), a farce featuring three women representing Quito, Cuenca, and Manabí. They sit on a comfortable sofa in the living room of one of their houses to gossip, while a mutual friend is in agony. In the end, the phone rings and they receive the bad news of her death. They get depressed, but go back to trivial topics as if nothing had happened. Juana Guarderas
Juana Guarderas Albuja (born 24 June 1964) is an Ecuadorian theatre, cinema, and television actress. She has been the director of the Quito Comedy Club since 1990. Biography Juana Guarderas was born in Quito on 24 June 1964, the daughter of Raúl Guarderas Guarderas and María del Carmen Albuja, and lived in Machachi, Ecuador for 11 years. She began acting at age 17 in the Comedy Club of Quito production of ''La lección de la Luna''. Guarderas would study theatre in the United States of America. Martha Ormaza
Martha Ormaza Bermeo (July 13, 1959 – October 22, 2018) was an Ecuadorian actress, writer, and director, a member of the theatrical group Las Marujitas. Biography Martha Ormaza was born in Alausí Canton on July 13, 1959. She considered herself a native of Quito, having lived in the Ecuadorian capital since her first year. At age two she began attending Los Pinos school. She studied at the Central University of Ecuador's Faculty of Law and obtained a Licentiate (degree), licentiate in public and social sciences. After a vocational crisis, in which she felt she had erred in her choice of career, she never practiced law in Ecuador. While accompanying her mother-in-law to the rehearsal of a play, she was asked to fill in for a cast member who was absent. Elena Torres (actress)
Elena Torres Cuéllar (3 June 1893 – 19 October 1970) was a leading Mexican revolutionary, feminist, progressive educator and writer. A member of the communist party, in 1917 she was the only woman to participate on behalf of the Liga Central de Resistencia at the first meeting of the Yucatán Socialist Party in Mérida. In 1919, she founded the Mexican Feminist Council campaigning for better social and economic conditions for women as well as the right to vote. She devoted considerable efforts to improving education in Mexico, especially by facilitating the training of primary school teachers in rural areas. The Ecuadorian Constituent Assembly was a 2007–2008 constitutional assembly in Ecuador, which drafted the 2008 Constitution of Ecuador, approved via the Ecuadorian constitutional referendum, 2008.
