Larry Wright (February 2, 1940 - May 21, 2017) was an American cartoonist, known for his conservative editorial cartoons published in ''The Detroit News ''The Detroit News'' is one of the two major newspapers in the U.S. city of Detroit, Michigan. The paper began in 1873, when it rented space in the rival ''Detroit Free Press'' building. ''The News'' absorbed the ''Detroit Tribune'' on Februar ...'' from 1976 to 2009. He received the National Cartoonist Society Editorial Cartoon Award for 1980 and 1984. He was also the author of the comic strips ''Wright Angles'' and '' Kit 'N' Carlyle''. The latter, about a woman named Carlyle who owns a cat named Kit, was introduced in 1980. Wright died on May 21, 2017, at the age of 77. Larry Wright (basketball)
Larry Glenn Wright (born November 23, 1954) is an American former professional basketball player and coach. He played college basketball for the Grambling State Tigers and was the Southwestern Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year in 1976. Wright played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Washington Bullets and the Detroit Pistons. He also played for six seasons in Italy. After his playing retirement, Wright joined the Tigers as an assistant coach from 1990 to 1992 and returned as the head coach from 1999 to 2008. College career Wright was a highly recruited prospect while he played at Western High School in Washington, D.C. He chose to commit to the Grambling State Tigers in honor of his mentor Hershell West, who had played for the Tigers and coached Wright when he played at Richwood High School in Louisiana. Larry Wright is a British priest of the Church of England. He is the Religious Affairs Advisor to the Next Century Foundation and the convenor of the Religious Affairs Advisory Council, which investigates conflict situations, actual or emerging, analysing any relevant religious factors. He is the former Director of Religious Affairs at the Yarl's Wood Immigration Removal Centre and the former Director of Religious Affairs at the YMCA UK. Wright is currently the Rector of St Nicolas' Church, Kings Norton, a multicultural and multifaith church in his home city of Birmingham having previously been a Rector of St George's Newtown, Birmingham. He is also Chief of Governors at the Hawkesley Church Primary Academy in Kings Norton. Wright is a staunch peace activist and opposed Brexit on the grounds that it could create division. Larry Wright (born c. 1975) is a well-known New York City street performer. He is credited as the first major drummer to use five gallon plastic buckets instead of a normal drum kit. He uses his foot to lift the bucket changing the sound patterns. He has appeared in commercials, Mariah Carey's "Someday" video, Bring in 'da Noise, Bring in 'da Funk as well as the movie ''Green Card''. In 2011 he appeared in the film The Yellow Card directed by Enrique Pedráza Botero. It is a short documentary based on subway performers in New York City, where Larry Wright and his wife Sonia Wright are one of the main acts in the film as they play their music and are being interviewed.
