Larry Ross (speedway Rider)
Larry Ross (born 15 June 1954 in Christchurch, New Zealand) is a former speedway rider who rode with the Wimbledon Dons, Belle Vue Aces, Halifax Dukes and the Bradford Dukes in the British League. Career summary Ross began riding at the Ruapuna track in Christchurch in 1972. He moved to England in 1975 and joined the Wimbledon Dons. He won the London Riders' Championship. In 1979 he was a member of the New Zealand team which won the World Team Cup. He was also a non-riding reserve for the 1979 World Final (won for a record 6th time by fellow Kiwi rider Ivan Mauger). In 1980 he was third in the British League Riders' Championship and the following year he rode in the World Championship final at Wembley. From 1977 to 1986 he rode in eight finals of the World Pairs Championship with Ivan Mauger and Mitch Shirra. Riding with Mauger he was runnerup in 1978 and in 1981. Larry Ross (ice Hockey)
Lawrence "Larry" Ross (1922-1995) was an American ice hockey goaltender and coach who played for Minnesota in the early 1950s and is a member of the United States Hockey Hall of Fame. Early life Ross was born in Duluth, Minnesota, and graduated from Morgan Park High School in 1940. He joined the United States Navy and played for the naval ice hockey team during World War II. After the war, Ross returned to Minnesota and continued to play in amateur hockey leagues for several years before matriculating to the University of Minnesota. Ross was a two-year starter for Minnesota, playing in 32 games from 1950 to 1952 and was an AHCA First Team All-American in 1950–51. Career After graduating from college, Ross became the head coach at International Falls High School in 1954 and remained with the team for 31 years. Ross has a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree from the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, in screenwriting. Ross worked as a reporter, for the ''Los Angeles Independent Newspaper'' and was appointed managing editor of ''Rap Sheet magazine'', hip hop's first West Coast magazine in 1997. In 1997, Ross, a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, began writing ''The Divine Nine: The History of African American Fraternities and Sororities'' ().
