Larry Hall (North Carolina Politician)
Larry Dwight Hall is a North Carolina government official. A longtime member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, he served as Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs under Governor Roy Cooper from 2017 through January 2021. A Democrat, he served in the North Carolina House of Representatives as the member from North Carolina's 29th House district, Durham, North Carolina, from 2006 through 2017. Hall was first appointed to the position in 2006 by then-Governor Mike Easley. District 29 is the home of North Carolina Central University, Duke University, Durham Technical Community College, Lincoln Community Health Center, the historic Black Wall Street, the American Tobacco Historic District, and the Durham Performing Arts Center. The North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) is a state agency designed to advocate for the relationship the state has with its military and veterans' installations and populations. It was created by the North Carolina General Assembly with the support of Governor Pat McCrory. The current head of the Department is Secretary Walter E. Gaskin. The Durham Performing Arts Center (often called the DPAC) opened November 30, 2008 as the largest performing arts center in the Carolinas at a cost of $48 million. The DPAC hosts over 200 performances a year including touring Broadway productions, high-profile concert and comedy events, family shows and the American Dance Festival. American Tobacco Historic District
The American Tobacco Historic District is a historic tobacco factory complex and national historic district located in Durham, Durham County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 14 contributing buildings and three contributing structures built by the American Tobacco Company and its predecessors and successors from 1874 to the 1950s. Located in the district is the separately listed Italianate style W. T. Blackwell and Company building (1874-1880, c. 1904). Lincoln Community Health Center
Lincoln Community Health Center (LCHC) is an outpatient primary care facility located in Durham, North Carolina that replaced Lincoln Hospital in 1968. LCHC offers a wide range of health services including adult medicine, pediatrics, dental, social work/mental health services, family care nursing and outreach into the home. Prenatal and family planning services are available at the Center in cooperation with the Durham County Health Department.
