Larry Alexander (journalist)
Larry Alexander (born January 28, 1951) is an American journalist and military historian who has written a number of books about World War II, most notably about Easy Company of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army. Easy Company was made famous principally by Stephen Ambrose's book and the ''Band of Brothers (TV miniseries)'' of that name. Author/Historian Alexander has been a columnist for the ''Lancaster Newspapers, Inc'', a newspaper in Lancaster, Pennsylvania since 1993. He retired from the paper in 2015. While with Lancaster Newspapers, he was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in 2005 and has won state-level journalism awards. He grew up on the same street as Dick Winters in Ephrata, Pennsylvania and made friends with him in 2001. Alexander began writing Winter's biography two years later. Gods And Generals (film)
''Gods and Generals'' is a 2003 American epic war drama film written and directed by Ronald F. Maxwell. It is an adaptation of the 1996 novel of the same name by Jeffrey Shaara and prequel to Maxwell's 1993 film '' Gettysburg''. Most of the film was personally financed by media mogul Ted Turner. The film follows the story of Stonewall Jackson from the beginning of the American Civil War to his death at the Battle of Chancellorsville. It stars Stephen Lang as Stonewall Jackson, Jeff Daniels as Lieutenant Colonel Joshua Chamberlain and Robert Duvall as General Robert E. Lee. Adam Makos (born 1981) is an American author and military historian. His works include '' A Higher Call'' (2012), which recounts the Charlie Brown and Franz Stigler incident, and ''Spearhead'' (2019), a detailed biography of World War II tank gunner Clarence Smoyer. Both books have appeared on the New York Times Best Seller list. The 2022 film, ''Devotion'', is based on his 2015 book of the same title, which tells the true story of a friendship between two U.S. Navy pilots in the Korean War.
