Lariosauro
In Italian folklore, Lariosauro is a lake monster said to live in Lake Como in Italy, about north of Milan. Como is one of the deepest European lakes, at about at the deepest location. In 1946, eyewitnesses allegedly reported seeing a reptile-like animal swimming in the waters of the lake. It was called ''lariosauro'', the same name used a century before to name a prehistoric reptile whose fossilized remains were found by the lake (''Lariosaurus balsami''). A weekly of Como, a week after the first article, wrote it was a sturgeon, but the sturgeon as well as the monster appear to be more simply a hoax invented by the press. Lariosaurus
''Lariosaurus'' is an extinct genus of nothosaurid from the Middle Triassic (late Anisian to late Ladinian stage) of central and western Europe and China. With a length of just , it was one of the smallest known nothosaurs. First discovered at Perledo on the Lake Como in 1830, it was named in 1847 by Curioni, its name meaning "Lizard from Larius", the ancient name of the lake. This makes it one of the earliest studied reptiles from the Alps. It is known from an almost complete skeleton holotype and several other fairly complete fossils. The nothosaur ''Eupodosaurus'', initially classified as a stegosaurian dinosaur, is now considered synonymous with ''Lariosaurus''. In 1998 Rieppel synonymised ''Lariosaurus, Silvestrosaurus'' and ''Ceresiosaurus,'' but this is disputed by many authors and they are usually considered close relatives. Musso, Lombardy
Musso (Comasco: ) is a small town in the Province of Como in the Italian region Lombardy. It lies on the western shore of the northern branch of Lake Como about northeast of the city of Como. The ''comune'' of Musso, which includes the town itself and the surrounding area of lake and mountainside, extends over an area of , with a minimum elevation of and a maximum of and has a population of 1,020. The northern pike (''Esox lucius'') is a species of carnivorous fish of the genus ''Esox'' (the pikes). Lecco
Lecco (, , ; lmo, label=Lecchese, Lècch ) is a city of 48,131 inhabitants in Lombardy, northern Italy, north of Milan. It lies at the end of the south-eastern branch of Lake Como (the branch is named ''Branch of Lecco'' / ''Ramo di Lecco''). The Bergamo Alps rise to the north and east, cut through by the Valsassina of which Lecco marks the southern end. Argegno
Argegno ( Comasco: ) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Como in the Italian region Lombardy, located about north of Milan and about north of Como. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 650 and an area of .All demographics and other statistics: Italian statistical institute Istat. Dongo (Comasco: ) is a ''comune'' in the Province of Como in the Italian region Lombardy. It lies on the northwestern shore of Lake Como between Gravedona and Musso at the mouth of the Albano.
