Alan James (March 23, 1890 – December 30, 1952) was an American film director and screenwriter. He directed more than 70 films between 1916 and 1943. He also wrote for more than 60 films between 1916 and 1951. He was born in Port Townsend, Washington, and died in Hollywood, California. Richard Cramer
Richard Earl Cramer (July 3, 1889 – August 9, 1960) was an American actor in films from the late 1920s to the early 1950s. Burly, menacing and gravel-voiced, Cramer specialized in villainous roles in many low-budget westerns, but is today best remembered for his several appearances with Laurel and Hardy. He also appeared with W. C. Fields in his short film, '' The Fatal Glass of Beer'', which Mack Sennett produced. He was sometimes billed as Rychard Cramer or Dick Cramer. On Broadway, Cramer portrayed Rube in ''Buddies'' (1919) and Hernando in ''Sancho Panza'' (1923). She mostly performed as a child actress from the late 1910s, through the 1920s, before retiring from the industry in 1934. Early life and career Gloria Joy was born Corrine Louise Johnson in Los Angeles, California to Oral Lavon and Louise Corinne ( Gordon) Johnson. She began her career in the film industry at age seven when her stepfather, Sherwood MacDonald, formed Mission Productions in the autumn of 1918 to produce a series of films showcasing Joy as a child actress. The first of the series was ''The Fortunes of Connie'', released by Pathé on 22 December of that year. Joy would go on to appear in films – often in starring roles directed by MacDonald – throughout the late 1910s and 1920s. Olin Caldwell Francis (September 13, 1891 Mooreville, Mississippi - June 30, 1952 Hollywood, California) was an American actor. Francis graduated in engineering from the University of Mississippi and acted on stage before he went to Hollywood. He was one of the founders of the Screen Actors Guild. He performed in silent films, including melodramas, romances and Westerns. He starred in a few films early in his career, but he more frequently had smaller parts such as a deputy sheriff, a henchman, or a member of a posse.
