Albert Laprade
Albert Laprade (29 November 1883 – 9 May 1978) was a French architect, perhaps best known for the Palais de la Porte Dorée. During a long career he undertook many urban renewal projects as well as major industrial and commercial works. A skilled artist, he published a series of sketch books of architecture in France and other Mediterranean countries. Biography Birth and education Albert Laprade was born in Buzançais, Indre on 29 November 1883. He was the only son of a wholesale grocer and a seamstress from Châteauroux. He attended the Lycée Jean-Giraudoux in Châteauroux, graduating in 1900. He then moved to Paris where his maternal uncle Ernest Cléret, an architect and professor at the Gobelins Manufactory, encouraged him to study for admission to the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts. Edgar Laprade
Edgar Louis "Beaver" Laprade (October 10, 1919 – April 28, 2014) was a Canadian professional ice hockey centre who played for the New York Rangers in the National Hockey League. The son of Thomas and Edith Laprade, he was born in the New Ontario community of Mine Centre. By age 4, he and his family moved to Port Arthur, Ontario. He also spent time with the Port Arthur Bearcats of the Thunder Bay Senior Hockey League. Playing career Laprade started his hockey career with the local Port Arthur Bruins in the Thunder Bay Junior A Hockey League. He was a prolific scorer with the team and he was frequently their best player. In 1938–39, Laprade joined the Port Arthur Bearcats in the Thunder Bay Senior Hockey League (TBSHL). Émile Pinet-Laprade (1822–1869) was a governor of Senegal. Biography Succeeding Bernard Jauréguiberry, Pinet-Laprade was governor of Senegal from May 13, 1863, until July 14, 1863. Louis Faidherbe then took over until May 1, 1865, when Pinet-Laprade assumed the position again until July 14, 1863. Ferdinand Charles Alexandre Tredos then succeeded him. Pinet-Laprade was born on July 13, 1822, in Mirepoix, Ariège and died on August 17, 1869, in Saint-Louis, Senegal. He was buried in Mirepoix on August 11, 1872. Serge Laprade (born January 13, 1941 in Montreal, Quebec) is a French Canadian singer and a host on a number of Quebec radio and television stations. Career After his secondary education, he completed his university studies at Université de Montréal majoring in Social Science. At the same time he studied singing and theatre acting. In 1962 and 1963, he worked at the news service of the radio station CJMS. During the same period, he took part in a number of music and entertainment shows as an amateur singer and caught the attention of a number of producers. Pierre Martin Victor Richard de Laprade (13 January 181213 December 1883), known as Victor de Laprade, was a French poet and critic. Biography He was born at Montbrison, Loire, of a modest provincial family. After completing his studies at Lyon, he produced, in 1839, a small volume of religious verse, ''Les Parfums de Madeleine''. This was followed in 1840 by ''La colère de Jesus'', in 1841 by the religious fantasy of ''Psyche'', and in 1844 by ''Odes et poèmes''. In 1845 Laprade visited Italy on a mission of literary research, and in 1847 he was appointed professor of French literature at Lyon. The Académie française, by a single vote, preferred Émile Augier at the election in 1857, but in the following year Laprade was chosen to fill the place vacated by Alfred de Musset. USS ''La Prade'' (DE-409) was a in service with the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. She was scrapped in 1973. The ship was named in honor of USMC First Lieutenant Robert M.
