Foot-lambert
A foot-lambert or footlambert (fL, sometimes fl or ft-L) is a unit of luminance in United States customary units and some other unit systems. A foot-lambert equals 1/π or 0.3183 candela per square foot, or 3.426 candela per square meter (the corresponding SI unit). The foot-lambert is named after Johann Heinrich Lambert (1728–1777), a Swiss-German mathematician, physicist and astronomer. It is rarely used by electrical and lighting engineers, who prefer the candela per square foot or candela per square meter units. The luminance of a perfect Lambertian diffuse reflecting surface in foot-lamberts is equal to the incident illuminance in foot-candles. For real diffuse reflectors, the ratio of luminance to illuminance in these units is roughly equal to the reflectance of the surface. Mathematically, :L_\mathrm v = E_\mathrm v \times R, where :L_\mathrm v is the luminance, in foot-lamberts, :E_\mathrm v is the illuminance, in foot-candles, and :R is the reflectivity, expressed as a f ...

Lambert The Sheepish Lion
''Lambert the Sheepish Lion'' is a Disney animated short film that was released in 1952. It was directed by Jack Hannah. Plot A stork (the same stork from ''Dumbo'') delivers a flock of newborn lambs to their expectant mothers, but finds that he had mistakenly brought along a lion named Lambert (apparently misinterpreting its name), which was supposed to go to South Africa; one of the mother sheep, who was heartbroken at not receiving a lamb, forcefully demands the stork leave Lambert with her. Lambert lives his life thinking he is a sheep, but is ostracized by his peers for being and acting different; he is also defenseless against the other lambs' head-butts. One night, a hungry wolf (the same wolf from the "Peter and the Wolf" segment from ''Make Mine Music''), attacks the flock. At first timid like the other sheep, Lambert's lion instincts kick in when the wolf corners Lambert's mother; with an aggressive roar, Lambert butts the wolf off a ledge. Thereafter, the now-adult ...

Lambert W Function
In mathematics, the Lambert function, also called the omega function or product logarithm, is a multivalued function, namely the Branch point, branches of the converse relation of the function , where is any complex number and is the exponential function. For each integer there is one branch, denoted by , which is a complex-valued function of one complex argument. is known as the principal branch. These functions have the following property: if and are any complex numbers, then :w e^ = z holds if and only if :w=W_k(z) \ \ \text k. When dealing with real numbers only, the two branches and suffice: for real numbers and the equation :y e^ = x can be solved for only if ; we get if and the two values and if . The Lambert relation cannot be expressed in terms of elementary functions. It is useful in combinatorics, for instance, in the enumeration of tree graph, trees. It can be used to solve various equations involving exponentials (e.g. the maxima of the Planck' ...

Lambert (grape)
Trollinger, Schiava, or Vernatsch, is a red German/Italian wine grape variety that was likely first originally cultivated in the wine regions of South Tyrol and Trentino, but today is almost exclusively cultivated on steep, sunny locations in the Württemberg wine region of Baden-Württemberg. It is primarily known under the synonyms Trollinger in Germany, Vernatsch in South Tyrol and Schiava in other Italian regions. As a table grape the variety is sometimes known as Black Hamburg,J. Robinson, ''Jancis Robinson's Guide to Wine Grapes'', pp. 171 and 191-192, Oxford University Press 1996 . which is commonly confused with the similar synonym for Black Muscat—a variety that is actually a cross of Trollinger and Muscat of Alexandria.Appellation AmericBlack MuscatGrape details. According to wine expert Oz Clarke, Trollinger has moderate acidity and tends to produce light bodied wines with fruity strawberry and subtle smokey notes.Oz Clarke: ''Encyclopedia of Grapes'', pp. 229, 270 ...

Lambert (unit)
The lambert (symbol L, la or Lb) is a non- SI metric unit of luminance named for Johann Heinrich Lambert (1728–1777), a Swiss mathematician, physicist and astronomer. A related unit of luminance, the foot-lambert, is used in the lighting, cinema and flight simulation industries. The SI unit is the candela per square metre (cd/m2). Definition 1 lambert (L) = \frac candela per square centimetre (0.3183 cd/cm2) or \frac cd m−2 See also Other units of luminance: * Apostilb The apostilb is an obsolete unit of luminance. GWR 3031 Class
The Dean Single, 3031 Class, or Achilles Class was a type of steam locomotive built by the British Great Western Railway between 1891 and 1899. They were designed by William Dean for passenger work. The first 30 members of the class were built as 2-2-2s of the 3001 Class. The first eight members of the class (numbers 3021-3028, built April–August 1891) were built as convertible broad gauge 2-2-2 locomotives, being converted to standard gauge in mid-1892, at the end of broad gauge running on the Great Western Railway. A further 22 were built in late 1891 and early 1892, this time as standard gauge engines. Although the 3001 class were fitted with larger boilers than earlier GWR 2-2-2 classes, the diameter of the boiler was constrained by its position between the driving wheels. Thus boiler capacity could only be increased by making the boiler longer, not wider, bringing the smokebox and cylinders in front of the leading axle. The extra weight of the larger boilers was bo ...

Lambert (cyclecar)
The Lambert was a British 3-wheeled cyclecar made between 1911 and 1912 by Lambert's Carriage, Cycle and Motor Works of Thetford, Norfolk. The car was powered by an 8 hp JAP engine mounted at the front and driving the single rear wheel by chain via a three speed gearbox. It was fitted with an open two seater body usually painted in green and grey vertical stripes. It was sold as "The Smartest Car on Three Wheels" and cost £110. Lambert (automobile)
The Lambert automobile and Lambert truck were vehicles built from 1905 through 1916 by the Lambert Automobile Company in Anderson, Indiana, United States. The Lambert automobile was an outgrowth from the Union automobile made by the Union Automobile Company, a previous vehicle that was being manufactured by John William Lambert. The factory manufactured about 3,000 automobiles and trucks per year by 1915 and had several models ranging in price from $1,200 to $3,000 at the time. The vehicles came with a gearless friction drive transmission. The demise of the manufacture of automobiles and trucks came about because of World War I. Background history The Lambert automobile is a 1905 outgrowth from the Union automobile that was being constructed by the Union Automobile Company in Union City, Indiana. The Union automobile changed its name to the Lambert automobile and all production was moved to Anderson, Indiana. The new automobile models were then manufactured by the Lambert Au ...
