Lagrange Multiplier
In mathematical optimization, the method of Lagrange multipliers is a strategy for finding the local maxima and minima of a function subject to equality constraints (i.e., subject to the condition that one or more equations have to be satisfied exactly by the chosen values of the variables). It is named after the mathematician Joseph-Louis Lagrange. The basic idea is to convert a constrained problem into a form such that the derivative test of an unconstrained problem can still be applied. The relationship between the gradient of the function and gradients of the constraints rather naturally leads to a reformulation of the original problem, known as the Lagrangian function. LaGrange is a historic plantation house located near Harris Crossroads, Vance County, North Carolina. It was built about 1830, and is a two-story, Greek Revival style frame dwelling with Italianate style decorative elements. It has a later one-story rear ell. The La Grange Historic District is a national Historic district (United States), historic district located in La Grange, North Carolina, United States. The district, originally encompassing 225 buildings and 1 structure, includes the historic commercial, residential, and industrial center of La Grange. The buildings include notable examples of Gothic Revival architecture, Gothic Revival, Queen Anne style architecture in the United States, Queen Anne and Bungalow/American Craftsman styles of architecture and date between the 1850s and the 1940s. Located in the district is the separately listed La Grange Presbyterian Church. Other notable buildings include the Sutton-Kinsey House (c. 1898), Walter Pace House (c. 1900), Sutton-Fields House (c. 1850), Colonel A. C. La Grange is a city in Lewis County, Missouri, United States. The population was 825 at the 2020 census. Since the 1960 census, the population has been dwindling. It is part of the Quincy, IL–MO Micropolitan Statistical Area. History La Grange was founded in 1830. A post office called La Grange has been in operation since 1833. LaGrange, also known as La Grange Plantation or Meredith House, is a historic home located at Cambridge, Dorchester County, Maryland, United States. It was built about 1760. The house is a -story Flemish bond brick house and is one of the few remaining Georgian houses in the town. Sun porches and a frame wing were added to the main house in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. La Grange is a home rule-class city in Oldham County, Kentucky, in the United States. The population was 8,082 at the time of the 2010 U.S. census. It is the seat of its county. An unusual feature of La Grange is the CSX Transportation street-running mainline track on Main Street. History La Grange was founded in 1827 when the Oldham County seat was relocated from Westport at the suggestion of Major William Berry Taylor. The new town was named for Château de la Grange-Bléneau, the French country estate of Gilbert du Motier, the American Revolutionary hero better known as the Marquis de Lafayette, who had visited the area in 1824.
