''Ladies in Charge'' is a British television series which originally aired on ITV in 1986.Maxford p.540 It followed on from a pilot episode that appeared on the ''Storyboard'' anthology series in 1985. Returning from the First World War where they have served as volunteer ambulance drivers, three woman join together to form an agency dedicated to helping those who are struggling. Carol Royle
Carol Buchanan Royle (born 10 February 1954) is an English actress. She is best known for playing Jenny Russell in the BBC sitcom ''Life Without George'' (1987—1989) and Lady Patricia Brewster in '' Heartbeat'' (1997—2003). Early life Born in Blackpool the daughter of actor Derek Royle, Carol Royle studied drama at the Central School of Speech and Drama. Career Making her screen debut in 45 episodes of ''The Cedar Tree'' from 1977 to 1978, Royle went on to become known for her role as Jenny Russell in the BBC sitcom ''Life Without George'' which ran for three series from 1987 to 1989, as well as her role in ITV1's 1960s based drama '' Heartbeat'', in which she played Austin Healey-driving Lady Patricia Brewster in four episodes. Julian Glover

Richard Vernon
Richard Evelyn Vernon (7 March 1925 – 4 December 1997) was a British actor. He appeared in many feature films and television programmes, often in aristocratic or supercilious roles. Prematurely balding and greying, Vernon settled into playing archetypal middle-aged lords and military types while still in his 30s. He is perhaps best known for originating the role of Slartibartfast in ''The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy''. Irene Worth, CBE (June 23, 1916March 10, 2002) was an American stage and screen actress who became one of the leading stars of the British and American theatre. Francis Michael Gough ( ; 23 November 1916 – 17 March 2011) was a British character actor who made more than 150 film and television appearances. Robert Alastair Addie (10 February 1960 – 20 November 2003) was an English film and theatre actor, who came to prominence playing the role of Sir Guy of Gisbourne in the 1980s British television drama series ''Robin of Sherwood''. Suzanne Bertish (born 7 August 1951, Hammersmith, London) is an English actress. Educated at Woldingham School, Bertish joined the Royal Shakespeare Company and appeared in many of its productions, including its marathon eight-and-a-half-hour version of Charles Dickens's ''The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby'', in which she played three roles.
