Equinox (thrash Metal Band)
Equinox is a Norwegian thrash metal band from Fredrikstad that started in 1987. The initial band members were Grim Stene (electric guitar, guitar/singing, vocals), Ragnar 'Raggen' Westin (Drum kit, drums) and Skule Stene (bass guitar) who were all ex-Rebellion (Norwegian band), Rebellion members. In 1988 Tommy Skarning joined as a second guitarist. On the ''Labyrinth'' album Tommy was no longer with the band, and Raggen was exchanged with Jørn Wangsholm. The band broke up in 1995. The 15 November 2017 Equinox announced that they were doing an exclusive comeback concert at the Tons of Rock Festival in Halden with the original band members. Thrash Metal
Thrash metal (or simply thrash) is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music characterized by its overall aggression and often fast tempo.Kahn-Harris, Keith, ''Extreme Metal: Music and Culture on the Edge'', pp. 2–3, 9. Oxford: Berg, 2007, . The songs usually use fast percussive beats and low-register guitar riffs, overlaid with shredding-style lead guitar work. The language is typically direct and denunciatory, an approach borrowed from hardcore punk. The genre emerged in the early 1980s as musicians began fusing the double bass drumming and complex guitar stylings of the new wave of British heavy metal (NWOBHM) with the speed and aggression of hardcore punk.
