La Vuelta Al Nido
''La vuelta al nido'' is a 1938 Argentine psychological drama film written and directed by Leopoldo Torres Ríos and starring José Gola and Amelia Bence. Writing for '' Página/12'' on the occasion of its screening at the Mar del Plata International Film Festival in 2019, Diego Brodersen described it as a masterpiece and felt that: "Seen today, it stands out for its naturalism and narrative modernity, influenced by the cinema of directors such as King Vidor." It was selected as the fifth greatest Argentine film of all time in a poll conducted by the Museo del Cine Pablo Ducrós Hicken in 1977, while it ranked 24th in the 2000 edition. In a new version of the survey organized in 2022 by the specialized magazines ''La vida util'', ''Taipei'' and ''La tierra quema'', presented at the Mar del Plata International Film Festival, the film reached the 51 position. Leopoldo Torres Ríos
Leopoldo Torres Ríos (27 December 1899 – 10 April 1960) was an Argentine film director and screenwriter. His brother Carlos Torres Ríos was a notable cinematographer. His son was the film director and screenwriter Leopoldo Torre Nilsson. Rios initially solely began as a screenwriter, writing for his first film '' Palomas rubias'' in 1920 but by 1923 he began simultaneously directing and writing for his films, producing over 40 films between the early 1920s and 1959 when he was taken ill with lung cancer. He died on 10 April 1960, aged 60, in his native Buenos Aires. Museo del Cine Pablo Ducrós Hicken is a museum of cinema of Argentina located in Buenos Aires. It was established on 1971 and holds a collection of 65,000 reels of film. History The Cinema Museum of the City of Buenos Aires was created on October 1, 1971, from the film collection donated by the widow of researcher and collector Pablo C. Ducrós Hicken. José Gola
José Gola (February 7, 1904 – April 27, 1939, in Buenos Aires) was an Argentine film actor of the 1930s. Born in La Plata, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, Gola began acting for film in the 1934 film '' Mañana es domingo''. He began appearing in popular films such as '' Puente Alsina'' (1935) and ''La muchachada de a bordo'' in 1936 and '' Mateo'' in 1937. In 1938 he appeared in the film '' The Caranchos of Florida'' in which he played a significant lead role. He died appear in 1939's ''Hermanos'' but his last film was '' Frente a la vida'' before he died suddenly of peritonitis. He was one of the promising Argentine actors of the 1930s and would have arguably gone on to become one of the icons of the Cinema of Argentina. He died on April 27, 1939, in Buenos Aires.
