"La Vie la nuit" is a 1988 song recorded by French pop duet Début de Soirée. Written by William Picard with a music composed by Claude Mainguy and Guy Mattéoni, it was their second single from their album ''Jardins d'enfants'' and was released in December 1988. In France, it became a hit, remaining at number two for almost two months. Music The music for "La Vie la nuit" is typical of the 1980s synth-pop era. Before the last refrain, the song used a sample from the introduction of "Nuit de folie", the duet previous single. Début de Soirée (, literally ''Beginning of the Party'') was a French pop music duo which had a huge success in 1988 with their song "Nuit de folie", a number-one single in France. History Released for the first time in 1984 while the 2 singers were DJ in nightclubs in the south of France, the song "Nuit de folie" didn't meet success. They had difficulties in finding a record company to re-release a new version in 1988. However, the song was a great success : "Nuit de folie" was even the best-selling single of 1988 in France. It is currently still regarded as a classic dance music song. The band split in 2004. "Pour toi Arménie" (English translation: "For You, Armenia") is a 1989 song written and composed by Charles Aznavour, and recorded by a group of French singers (and also a few actors and TV presenters) who were popular at the time. This charity single was intended to raise funds to help the Armenians who experienced the 1988 Spitak earthquake. It sold more than 1 million copies under the Trema-EMI label.
