''La guerre du pétrole n'aura pas lieu'' is a 1975 Moroccan drama film directed by Souheil Ben-Barka. It was entered into the 9th Moscow International Film Festival. Plot The film takes place in a fictive Arab country that could be Morocco. In the midst of social turmoil happening in oil refinery plants, an American company uses corruption to get into the local oil business, leading to a peak in revolts. A minister who was trying to denounce the ongoing corruption and the subsequent impoverishment of the country fails to control the revolts and ends up in jail. Souheil Ben-Barka
Souheil Ben-Barka (born 25 December 1942) is a Moroccan film director, screenwriter and film producer. He directed seven films between 1974 and 2002. His 1975 film ''La guerre du pétrole n'aura pas lieu'' was entered into the 9th Moscow International Film Festival. His 1983 film '' Amok'' won the Golden Prize at the 13th Moscow International Film Festival. In 1987 he was a member of the jury at the 15th Moscow International Film Festival. Biography He was born in 1942 in Timbuktu, Mali. His father was a rich Moroccan merchant, and his mother was of Lebanese origin, her mother was of Armenian descent. He left Timbuktu at the age of 16. He spent a few years in Morocco before going to finish his higher education at Rome, Italy. One day in 1962, he happened to attend a film shooting on the street, the Italian filmmaker Federico Fellini was directing ''8½''. After this he decided to devote himself to the filmmaking. David Markham
David Markham (3 April 1913 – 15 December 1983) was an English stage and film actor for over forty years. Markham was born Peter Basil Harrison in Wick, Worcestershire and died in Hartfield, East Sussex. In 1937 he married Olive Dehn (1914–2007), a BBC Radio dramatist. Claudio Gora, '' Emilio Giordana '' (27 July 1913 – 13 March 1998) was an Italian actor and film director. George Ardisson
Giorgio Ardisson, best known as George Ardisson (31 December 1931 – 11 December 2014), was an Italian actor. Life and career Born in Turin, Ardisson debuted in a minor role in Mauro Bolognini's 1959 film ''Arrangiatevi!''. After several secondary roles in sword-and-sandal and adventure films, he gained a huge success playing Agent 3S3 in the eurospy films '' Agent 3S3: Passport to Hell'' and ''Agent 3S3, Massacre in the Sun''. Sacha Pitoëff (born Alexandre Pitoëff; 11 March 1920 – 21 July 1990) was a Swiss-born French actor and stage director. Early life and education Pitoëff was born in Geneva, Switzerland, on 11 March 1920, the son of Russian-born parents Ludmilla (née Smanova) and Georges Pitoëff.
