L-type Asteroid
L-type asteroids are relatively uncommon asteroids with a strongly reddish spectrum shortwards of 0.75 μm, and a featureless flat spectrum longwards of this. In comparison with the K-type asteroid, K-type, they exhibit a more reddish spectrum at visible wavelengths and a flat spectrum in the infrared. These asteroids were described as "featureless" S-type asteroid, S-types in the asteroid spectral types#Tholen classification, Tholen classification. The L-type was formally introduced in the asteroid spectral types#SMASS classification, SMASS classification, although previous studies had noted the unusual spectra of two of its members 387 Aquitania and 980 Anacostia. There are 41 asteroids classified as L-types in the SMASS taxonomy. Ld-type asteroids The Ld type is a grouping proposed in the SMASS classification for asteroids with an L-like flat spectrum longwards of 0.75 μm, but even redder in visible wavelengths, like the D-type asteroid, D-type. An example may be 728 Leonisi ...

Handley Page Type L
The Handley Page L/200 was the internal designation for a biplane aircraft by Handley Page, conceived to compete for the Daily Mail £10,000 prize for the first nonstop air crossing of the Atlantic. One prototype was designed and built in 1914 at the order of Prince Ludwig of Löwenstein-Wertheim. The L/200 designation came from its 200 hp (150 kW) Salmson 2M.7 engine, but the engine was requisitioned by the Admiralty when it arrived from France, so although the aircraft had been substantially built it was never finally assembled or flown. It was offered to the Admiralty as a coastal defence aircraft, with variants designated M/200 and MS/200 (seaplane A seaplane is a powered fixed-wing aircraft capable of takeoff, taking off and water landing, landing (alighting) on water.Gunston, "The Cambridge Aerospace Dictionary", 2009. Type L Grenade
The Type L is an anti-tank hand grenade provided to the Royal Italian Army The Royal Italian Army ( it, Regio Esercito, , Royal Army) was the land force of the Kingdom of Italy, established with the proclamation of the Kingdom of Italy. During the 19th century Italy started to unify into one country, and in 1861 Manfre ... during World War II. Description Designed for anti-tank use is practically an OTO inside a painted red cylindrical container filled with 1500 gr explosive charge with a wooden handle to facilitate the launch. The type L is designed to be used against vehicles and tanks, the bomb had essentially the task of destroying the track to immobilize it, since the charge was insufficient for its destruction, but made the tank still vulnerable to possible attacks from the infantry, the soldiers at this point proceeded to place explosive charges or throw incendiary grenades into the engine compartment covered by some smoke grenade. The bomb consists of a metal ...

Soviet Type L Submarine
The ''Leninets'' or L class were the second class of submarines to be built for the Soviet Navy. Twenty-five were built in four groups between 1931 and 1941. They were minelaying submarines and were based on the British L-class submarine, , which was sunk during the British intervention in the Russian Civil War. Some experience from the previous s was also utilised. The boats were of the saddle tank type and mines were carried in two stern galleries as pioneered on the pre-war Russian submarine Krab (1912), the world's first minelaying submarine. These boats were considered successful by the Soviets. Groups 3 and 4 had more powerful engines and a higher top speed. Ships Group 1 Six ships were built (L1 to L6), all launched in 1931. Three were assigned to the Baltic Fleet and three to the Black Sea Fleet Chernomorskiy flot , image = Great emblem of the Black Sea fleet.svg , image_size = 150px , caption = Gre ...

Japanese Type L Submarine
The submarines were medium-sized submarines of the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN), serving during the 1920s and World War II. The ''Type L'' submarines were built with Vickers naval technical guidance. All boats were built in the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries-Kobe Shipyard by the contract with Vickers. Class variants The ''Type L'' submarines were divided into four classes: * * * * ''Type L1 (Ro-51-class)'' In 1916, the Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Corporation got the Vickers ''L'' class submarine informations. Mitsubishi which lost competition to the Kawasaki's ''Type F'' submarines (Fiat-Laurenti design, ''Ro-1'' class and ''Ro-3'' class), bought the license for the ''L'' class submarine from Vickers. The IJN hoped an improvement of submarine technologies will be achieved and ordered this submarine from Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi bought six submarine kits, and built two boats by semi-knock down. The submarine crews were satisfied with the Vickers diesels because they proved t ...

Thulin Type L
The Thulin L was a Swedish reconnaissance plane built in the late 1910s. Design and development The Thulin L was a two-seat biplane derived from the unsuccessful Thulin E. It differed from the latter in that the wing surface was increased and the float location was made easier. Four production Thulin L floatplanes were ordered July 4, 1916, and they were delivered from November 1916 to March 1917. Specifications See also References {{Thulin aircraft Biplanes Single-engined tractor aircraft 1910s Swedish aircraft Aircraft first flown in 1916 ...

Caudron Type L
The Caudron Type L was a two-seat French pusher configuration amphibious biplane, flown around 1913 and intended for naval use. Design With unequal span, two bay, unstaggered wings and an open frame fuselage the Type L had much in common with the smaller Caudron-Fabre pusher amphibian, as well as with the tractor configuration Type J amphibians and Type H floatplanes, some of which were also amphibians. Most of the earlier Caudron biplane types had similar wings and fuselages. The Type L had three sets of parallel and vertical interplane struts on each side, the innermost close to the central nacelle and bracing the centre section. The overhanging upper wing were braced by a pair of parallel, outward leaning struts which joined the lower wing at the base of the outer vertical struts. The inner struts, to which the engine was attached, were ash and the remainder hollowed out spruce; all joined the rather close pairs of spars in the upper and lower wings. Diagonal flyi ...

Morane Saulnier Type L
The Morane-Saulnier L, or Morane-Saulnier Type L, or officially MoS-3, was a French parasol wing one or two-seat scout aeroplane of the First World War. The Type L became one of the first successful fighter aircraft when it was fitted with a single machine gun that fired through the arc of the propeller, which was protected by armoured deflector wedges. Its immediate effectiveness in this role launched an arms race in fighter development, and the Type L was swiftly rendered obsolete. The original Type L used wing warping for lateral control, but a later version designated Type LA was fitted with ailerons.Taylor 1989, p. 684. Built by Morane-Saulnier, large numbers of the Type L were ordered by the French ''Aviation Militaire'' at the outbreak of the war. In total about 600 Type Ls were built and, in addition to the French air force, they served with the Royal Flying Corps, Royal Naval Air Service and the Imperial Russian Air Service. The type was also produced under licenc ...

L-type Star
Brown dwarfs (also called failed stars) are substellar objects that are not massive enough to sustain nuclear fusion of ordinary hydrogen ( 1H) into helium in their cores, unlike a main-sequence star. Instead, they have a mass between the most massive gas giant planets and the least massive stars, approximately 13 to 80 times that of Jupiter (). However, they can fuse deuterium ( 2H), and the most massive ones (> ) can fuse lithium ( 7Li). Astronomers classify self-luminous objects by spectral class, a distinction intimately tied to the surface temperature, and brown dwarfs occupy types M, L, T, and Y. As brown dwarfs do not undergo stable hydrogen fusion, they cool down over time, progressively passing through later spectral types as they age. Despite their name, to the naked eye, brown dwarfs would appear in different colors depending on their temperature. The warmest ones are possibly orange or red, while cooler brown dwarfs would likely appear magenta or black t ...
