LMS Princess Royal Class 6203 Princess Margaret Rose
London Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) Princess Royal Class No. 6203 ( British Railways No. 46203) ''Princess Margaret Rose'' is a preserved British steam locomotive. Service 6203 was built at Crewe Works, being works number 253 of 1935, and being the third member of the class and first of the second batch. It was named ''Princess Margaret Rose'' after the then five-year-old daughter of Prince Albert, Duke of York (later King George VI), Princess Margaret Rose, the younger sister of Queen Elizabeth II. The locomotive was used to haul the heaviest and fastest LMS passenger trains from London to north and northwest England and to Scotland. During its operational career it was allocated to Crewe North, Edge Hill (Liverpool), Kingmoor (Carlisle) and Polmadie (Glasgow) motive power depots. LMS Princess Coronation Class 46233 ''Duchess of Sutherland'' is a steam locomotive built in 1938 for the London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) at Crewe Works to a design by William Stanier. It is a 4-6-2 Pacific locomotive built as part of the LMS Coronation Class for its express passenger services, including the Royal Scot service from London to Glasgow. Withdrawn by British Railways in 1964, the locomotive was originally sold to Butlins holiday camp in Scotland. In 1996, the locomotive was acquired by The Princess Royal Class Locomotive Trust with the intention of restoration to mainline condition. In 2001, 46233 was restored to operating condition and since then has been a regular performer on the national network. 6201 ''Princess Elizabeth'' is a preserved steam locomotive in England. It is one of two preserved LMS Princess Royal Class; the other being 46203 ''Princess Margaret Rose''. Service 6201 was built in November 1933 at the London, Midland & Scottish Railway's (LMS) Crewe Works, the second of its class. It was named after the 7-year-old elder daughter of Prince Albert, Duke of York (later King George VI), Princess Elizabeth (later Queen Elizabeth II). Despite the class officially being named after 6200 ''Princess Royal'', the class received the nickname "Lizzies" after 6201. After nationalisation in 1948, British Railways (BR) renumbered it 46201.
