Saint-Roch-de-l'Achigan is a Quebec municipality located in the Montcalm Regional County Municipality located in the Lanaudière region. It is on the banks of the Achigan River, a tributary of the L'Assomption River. According to the town's website, the population is approximately 5,1and growing steadily as a result of the suburban sprawl in the North Shore of Greater Montreal. History The first settlers arrived near the 1770s and built a flour mill on a township located alongside the Rivière de l'Achigan. The area was located on the northern edges of the first developed lands that were located along both sides of the Saint Lawrence River. Mascouche () is an off-island suburb of Montreal, in southern Quebec, Canada. Repentigny, Quebec
Repentigny () is an off-island suburb of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is located north of the city on the lower end of the L'Assomption River, and on the Saint Lawrence River. Repentigny and Charlemagne were the first towns off the eastern tip of the Island of Montreal. Repentigny is part of the Lanaudière region. History It was founded in 1670 by Jean-Baptiste Le Gardeur, son of Seigneur Pierre Le Gardeur. During the town's first 250 years, Repentigny was only inhabited by a few hundred peasants, or habitants, and was an agricultural community. In 1677, the first population census only shows 30 inhabitants. Its first mayor was Benjamin Moreau 1855. Repentigny merged with its neighbouring city of Le Gardeur on June 1, 2002. L'Épiphanie () is a town in Lanaudière, Quebec, Canada, located on the bank of the L'Achigan river. It has nearly 9,000 inhabitants and was 150 years old in 2004. On May 23, 2018, the town was greatly enlarged when the Parish Municipality of L'Épiphanie was added to it. Since 1732, the place was known as L'Achigan, thus taking the name of the river flowing through its territory. It was not until 1853 that the name L'Épiphanie appeared. This coincided with the moment of the canonical establishment of the parish, which had just separated from L'Assomption. Historians generally agree to see in this name the transposition of a Sulpician custom. They were owners of the Saint-Sulpice seigneury within which a large part of the territory of L'Épiphanie was included. L'Assomption () is an off-island suburb of Montreal, in southwestern Quebec, Canada on the L'Assomption River. It is the seat of the Regional County Municipality of L'Assomption. It is located on the outer fringes of the Montreal urban area. Most of the economy depends on the agricultural industries of the surrounding plains. It is also the cultural centre of the region. History In 1647, the L'Assomption Seignory was granted to Pierre Legardeur de Repentigny, named after the river already named such since the seventeenth century. Between 1640 and 1700, a settlement formed inside a large horseshoe-shaped meander of the L'Assomption River. Amerindians had already been visiting this site since ancient times and called it ''Outaragasipi'' meaning winding river, in reference to the river's course. Sainte-Marie-Salomé, Quebec
Sainte-Marie-Salomé is a municipality in the Lanaudière region of Quebec, Canada, part of the Montcalm Regional County Municipality. History In 1765, the first wave of colonization occurred as a result of the Great Upheaval when Acadians from Boston arrived and settled on the south bank of the Vacher Creek (french: ruisseau Vacher) in the Seignory of Saint-Sulpice. The settlement was called Bas-du-Ruisseau-Vacher (meaning "Lower Vacher Creek"), named after a certain Vacher who accompanied surveyor John Péladeau in 1767 on the seignory's territory. In 1790, the settlement grew when families from Château-Richer arrived. Actual clearing of the area began around 1820. In March 1883, Sainte-Marie-Salomé became home to the second creamery of Quebec. In 1888, the parish municipality of Sainte-Marie-Salomé was established by separating from Saint-Jacques-de-l'Achigan, and named after Mary Salome. Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board
The Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board (SWLSB, french: Commission scolaire Sir-Wilfrid-Laurier, CSSWL) is a school board headquartered in Rosemère, Quebec in Greater Montreal. It officially came into existence in July 1998 when English-language schools from eight former school boards were amalgamated. Laurenval School Board, Laurentian School Board and Laurentienne School Trustees were merged, and the English sector of the other school boards of the Laval, Laurentides and Lanaudière administrative regions joined to form the new administrative entity.
