L. G. Wilson
L. G. Wilson (November 5, 1924; Anson, Texas – June 29, 2001) was an American high school head football coach and athletic director. Life He graduated from Anson High School and Abilene Christian University (then College) in 1950, where he played football, baseball, and basketball. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1945. He married Elaine Halbert in Sweetwater on June 16, 1949. He is buried in Plainview, Texas. Career Wilson was a high school head football coach and athletic director at Winters (1960–1967), Floydada (1968–1982), and Tulia, Texas (1983–1990), retiring in 1990. He also coached at Brownfield, Weatherford, and Temple, Texas. As of the 2006 football season, he is tied for 45th place among Texas head football coaches in all-time wins with a record of 207 wins, 102 losses, and 12 ties. Anson, Texas
Anson is a city in and the county seat of Jones County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,430 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Abilene, Texas metropolitan area. Originally named "Jones City", the town was renamed "Anson" in 1882 in honor of Anson Jones, the last president of the Republic of Texas. Geography Anson is located in central Jones County at (32.755529, −99.896301). Three U.S. highways pass through the city. U.S. Routes 83 and 277 run north–south through the center as Commercial Avenue, while U.S. Route 180 crosses on 17th Street. South Plains
The South Plains is a region in northwest Texas, consisting of 24 counties. The main crop is cotton. Counties The South Plains region includes 24 counties: The northernmost four (Parmer, Castro, Swisher, and Briscoe) are also considered to be part of the Texas Panhandle region. West Texas A&M University (WTAMU or WT) is a public university in Canyon, Texas. It is the northernmost campus of the Texas A&M University System and accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). It was established on September 20, 1910, as West Texas State Normal College as one of the seven state-funded teachers' colleges in Texas. A year after the Texas State House of Representatives approved the bill to establish West Texas State Normal College, construction began on the school's Administration Building. Eastern New Mexico University
Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU or Eastern) is a public university with a main campus in Portales, New Mexico, and two associate degree-granting branches, one at Ruidoso and one at Roswell. ENMU is New Mexico's largest regional comprehensive university and is the most recently founded state university in New Mexico (legislated in 1927, opened in 1934). Lubbock Christian University (LCU) is a private Christian university associated with the Churches of Christ and located in Lubbock, Texas. Chartered originally as part of a grade school called Lubbock Christian School in 1954, the institution branched off as a junior college – Lubbock Christian College – in 1957. LCC became a senior college in 1972, then advanced to university status in fall of 1987. LCU has 65 undergraduate degrees. A fall 2015 count showed 1,958 students enrolled at Lubbock Christian University, of which 462 were graduate students.
