L. Frazier Banks Middle School
L. Frazier Banks Middle School (formerly Banks High School) was a former high school and middle school in the Birmingham Public School System in Birmingham, Alabama, USA. The school, which was named for former superintendent L. Frazier Banks, occupied six buildings in a residential area of Birmingham's South East Lake neighborhood. The school was opened as a high school in 1957 and, at first, accepted only freshmen. The high school's first graduating class matriculated in 1961. The school's athletic teams in that 1960-61 season won the Birmingham city football, basketball and baseball championships. In the early part of that decade, a U. S. Air Force F-86D/L "Sabre", tail number 52-4243, was acquired when it was taken off active service. High School

Birmingham Americans
The Birmingham Americans were a professional American football team located in Birmingham, Alabama. They were members of the four-team Central Division of the World Football League (WFL). The Americans, founded in late December 1973, played in the upstart league's inaugural season in 1974. The team was owned by William "Bill" Putnam, doing business as Alabama Football, Inc. The club played all of their home games at Legion Field. The most successful of the World Football League franchises, the Americans led the league in attendance and won all 13 of their home games. Larry Willingham
Larry Levi Willingham (born December 22, 1948) is a retired professional American football player. He played in the National Football League for the St. Louis Cardinals (1971–1972) and in the World Football League for both the Birmingham Americans (1974) and Birmingham Vulcans (1975). He was an All-American defensive back for Auburn University in 1970 and inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 2003. Early years Willingham attended L. Beth Thornley is an American singer-songwriter. Biography Beth Thornley was born in Birmingham, Alabama and attended the now closed L. Frazier Banks High School. She later went to Samford University and studied classical music where she earned a degree in music education. Jimmy Sidle
James Corbin Sidle (February 7, 1942 – November 14, 1999) was a professional American football running back in the National Football League for the Atlanta Falcons. He played college football at Auburn University and was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the 4th round (47th overall) of the 1965 NFL Draft. Early years Sidle attended Sylacauga High School, before transferring after his sophomore season to L. Frazier Banks High School, where as a quarterback he received All-State and All-American honors. James Gregory Shaw (born March 21, 1957) is an American lawyer and an associate justice of the Alabama Supreme Court. He is a member of the Republican Party. Johnny Musso (born March 6, 1950) is an American former football player, a running back for three seasons with the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League and in the National Football League with the Chicago Bears.
