L.A.W. (comics)
The L.A.W. (Living Assault Weapons) was a six-issue American comic book Limited series (comics), limited series, published by DC Comics. The starring team "The L.A.W." consisted of Charlton Comics characters Blue Beetle (Ted Kord), Blue Beetle, Question (comics), The Question, Judomaster, Captain Atom, Peacemaker (comics), The Peacemaker, Nightshade (DC Comics), Nightshade, and Sarge Steel. The first issue marked the first appearance of Mitchell Black as Peacemaker (comics), The Peacemaker as well as the first appearance of super-villain Avatar. Alan Moore incarnated analogues of the team's first five main characters, along with the first incarnation of Peacemaker (comics), The Peacemaker and Peter Cannon, Thunderbolt for the basis of his 1986 political thriller vigilante franchise ''Watchmen'', whose character later reappear in Grant Morrison's ''The Multiversity'' series. Limited Series (comics)
In the field of comic books, a limited series is a comics series with a predetermined number of issues. A limited series differs from an ongoing series in that the number of issues is finite and determined before production, and it differs from a One-shot (comics), one shot in that it is composed of multiple issues. The term is often used interchangeably with miniseries (mini-series) and maxiseries (maxi-series), usually depending on the length and number of issues. In Dark Horse Comics' definition of a limited series, "this term primarily applies to a connected series of individual comic books. A limited series refers to a comic book series with a clear beginning, middle and end". Dark Horse Comics and DC Comics refer to limited series of two to eleven issues as miniseries and series of twelve issues or more as maxiseries, but other publishers alternate terms. Watchmen
''Watchmen'' is an American comic book Limited series (comics), maxiseries by the British creative team of writer Alan Moore, artist Dave Gibbons and colorist John Higgins (comics), John Higgins. It was published monthly by DC Comics in 1986 and 1987 before being collected in a single-volume edition in 1987. ''Watchmen'' originated from a story proposal Moore submitted to DC featuring superhero characters that the company had acquired from Charlton Comics. As Moore's proposed story would have left many of the characters unusable for future stories, managing editor Dick Giordano convinced Moore to create original characters instead. Succubus
A succubus is a demon or supernatural entity in folklore, in female form, that appears in dreams to seduce men, usually through sexual activity. According to religious tradition, a succubus needs male semen to survive; repeated sexual activity with a succubus will result in a bond being formed between the succubus and the man; a succubus cannot drain or harm the man with whom she is having intercourse. In modern representations, a succubus is often depicted as a beautiful seductress or enchantress, rather than as demonic or frightening. The male counterpart to the succubus is the incubus. Doctor Fate (also known as Fate) is the name of multiple superheroes appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The original version of the character was created by writer Gardner Fox and artist Howard Sherman, debuting in ''More Fun Comics'' #55 (May 1940).
