L'Île-Bizard–Sainte-Geneviève
L'Île-Bizard–Sainte-Geneviève () is a borough (''arrondissement'') of the city of Montreal. History On 24 October 1678, the government of Louis de Buade de Frontenac granted Île Bizard, then named Île Bonaventure as a seigniory to Jacques Bizard. This was the first concession on the West Island of Montreal. The village of Sainte-Geneviève was born in the early eighteenth century. Antoine Faucon, father of Saint-Sulpice, participated in the construction of the first church in the village's history. The Municipality of the Village of Sainte-Geneviève was created in 1859. During the first half of the twentieth century, farmers in Île Bizard and Sainte-Geneviève were then oriented toward gardening. The territory was thus transformed into a garden of Montreal. Sainte-Geneviève was a municipality located on the Island of Montreal in southwestern Quebec, Canada. It is now part of the Borough of L'Île-Bizard–Sainte-Geneviève in the City of Montreal, created on January 1, 2002. The West Island () is the unofficial name given to the cities, towns and boroughs at the western end of the Island of Montreal, in Quebec, Canada. Pierrefonds—Dollard is a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1988. Its population was 108,587 at the 2016 Canadian Census. This riding occupies the northwest part of the Island of Montreal on Lac des Deux-Montagnes and Rivière des Prairies. It contains the cities of Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Pierrefonds, Roxboro and L'Île-Bizard. This riding is home to a number of pharmaceutical companies. Nelligan is a provincial electoral district in the Montreal region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It comprises most of the Pierrefonds-Roxboro borough and all of the L'Île-Bizard–Sainte-Geneviève borough of Montreal, and the city of Kirkland. It was created for the 1981 election from parts of Pointe-Claire and Robert-Baldwin electoral districts. In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, it lost Senneville to the Jacques-Cartier electoral district but gained from it the part of Kirkland that it did not already have. Royal Montreal Golf Club
The Royal Montreal Golf Club ( French: Le Club de Golf Royal Montréal) is the oldest golf club in North America, and the oldest in continuous existence. In 2023, it will be celebrating 150 years. It was founded in Montreal by eight men in 1873. Permission was granted by Queen Victoria to use the prefix "Royal" in 1884. History The club's first course was a 9-hole layout on Fletcher's Field in Mount Royal Park, which the red-coated golfers shared with the public on the then outskirts of Montreal. Mr. Alexander Dennistoun, a Scottish born man, is known as the first Club's Captain. The club continues to recognize his name in honouring the men's club champion trophy. Quebec Autoroute 40
Autoroute 40, officially known as Autoroute Félix-Leclerc outside Montreal and Metropolitan Autoroute/Autoroute Métropolitaine within Montreal, is an Autoroute on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River in the Canadian province of Quebec. It is one of the two major connections between Montreal and Quebec City, the other being Autoroute 20 on the south shore of the St. Lawrence. Autoroute 40 is currently long.
