L'Équipe (TV Channel)
L'Équipe, often called La Chaîne L'Équipe ( eng, L'Équipe Channel) to distinguish it from its newspaper namesake, is a French sports television channel. It launched as a basic subscription channel in 1998, under the name L'Équipe TV. In late 2012, L'Équipe TV became L'Équipe 21 and started broadcasting in high definition on France's free digital terrestrial television (DTT). It was rebranded again as just L'Équipe in September 2016. History On 31 August 1998, Groupe Amaury launched a television channel spun off from its daily sports newspaper ''L'Équipe''. 576i is a standard-definition television, standard-definition digital video mode, originally used for digitizing analog television in most countries of the world where the utility frequency for electric power distribution is 50 Hz. Because of its close association with the legacy color encoding systems, it is often referred to as PAL, PAL/SECAM or SECAM when compared to its 60 Hz (typically, see PAL-M) NTSC-colour-encoded counterpart, 480i. The ''576'' identifies a vertical resolution of 576 lines, and the ''i'' identifies it as an Interlaced video, interlaced resolution. Canal+ is a French subscription provider associated to the channel of the same name. It is owned by Vivendi (owner of Canal+) with a hundred percent share. History In 1992, Canalsatellite was launched, the shareholders were Canal+ Group (66 percent) and Lagardère Active (34 percent), a subsidiary of Lagardère. On 27 April 1996, Canalsatellite launched as a digital satellite platform, which was the first in Europe. Sport en France is a French free-to-air sports television channel. It was launched in 2019 and is headquartered in Boulogne-Billancourt, near Paris. In 2020, the channel signed on a content exchange program with France Televisions. History Sport en France was originally commissioned by the French National Olympic and Sports Committee to provide a national television platform for amateur olympic sports. Reworld Media, best known for publishing the local versions of magazines Closer and Grazia, won the tender to produce the channel's content. France 24 ( in French) is a French state-owned international news television network based in Paris. Its channels broadcast in French, English, Arabic, and Spanish and are aimed at the overseas market. Based in the Paris suburb of Issy-les-Moulineaux, the service started on 6 December 2006. It is aimed at a worldwide market and is generally broadcast by pay television providers around the world, but additionally, in 2010, France 24 began broadcasting online through its own iPhone and Android apps.
