''L'insegnante'' (internationally released as ''The School Teacher'' and ''Sexy Schoolteacher'') is a 1975 commedia sexy all'italiana directed by Nando Cicero. The film had a great commercial success and generated an "Insegnante" film series, that consists of six titles, three of them starred by Edwige Fenech in the main role. ''L'insegnante'' represents the first major role for Alvaro Vitali, who in a short time would become a star of the genre. Fenech reprises the name of Giovanna from her previous box-office hit ''Giovannona Long-Thigh''. The film was followed by ''The Schoolteacher Goes to Boys' High''. Plot A rich Sicilian: Fefè Mottola, decides to call a wealthy girl graduate: Giovanna, who is about to become a teacher, because his son needs repetitions. The boy, named Franco, is shocked by the physical beauty of the teacher, and so to restrain himself decides to pose as gay. Alvaro Vitali
Alvaro Vitali (; born 3 February 1950) is an Italian actor. He was an electrician until he was discovered by Federico Fellini and played a small part in ''Satyricon'' (1969), it led to other roles, notably in the movie '' Amarcord'' (1973). In the 1970s, Vitali became one of the most charismatic actors in the commedia erotica all'italiana (erotic comedy) genre. He was very popular in Spain as well. The commedia sexy all'italiana (, lit. "sex comedy Italian style"), also known as commedia scollacciata or commedia erotica all'italiana, is a subgenre of Italian ''commedia all'italiana'' film genre. Style ''Commedia sexy'' is characterized typically by both abundant female nudity and comedy, and by the minimal weight given to social criticism that was the basic ingredient of the main ''commedia all'italiana'' genre. Stories are often set in affluent environments such as wealthy households. It is closely connected to the sexual revolution, and it was something extremely new and innovative for that period. For the first time, films with female nudity could be watched at the cinema. Pornography and scenes of explicit sex were still forbidden in Italian cinemas, but partial nudity was somewhat tolerated. Alfredo Pea (born 17 November 1954) is an Italian stage, film and television actor. Life and career Born in Rome, Pea studied acting at the "Studio di arti sceniche" drama school by Alessandro Fersen. He became first known in the mid-seventies thanks to a series of commedia sexy all'italiana films, in which he played the typical role of a shy teenager seduced by more experienced women. In the same period he started appearing, in secondary roles, in more ambitious art films, working with Giuliano Montaldo, Mario Monicelli, Marco Tullio Giordana and Giuseppe Ferrara, among others. Francesca Romana Coluzzi (20 May 1943 – 15 July 2009) was an Italian actress. A respected dramatic actress on stage, she is probably best known for her roles in the commedia sexy all'italiana. Life and career Born in Tirana, Albania of Italian parents, Coluzzi soon moved in Italy with her family to Perugia. As a teenager, during a student twist dancing contest, Federico Fellini noticed her and offered her a role in ''8½''. Coluzzi declined the offer to continue her studies, but however the encounter with Fellini marked her life, and she eventually decided to leave the university to pursue a career in the cinema.
