L'Hospitalet Museum
The L’Hospitalet Museum, in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelonès), is a municipally owned cultural facility that aims to disseminate and conserve the cultural heritage and resources of L'Hospitalet. The museum was opened in 1972 in Casa Espanya, built in the 16th century,"> and is part of the Barcelona Provincial Council Local Museum Network. L'Hospitalet De Llobregat
L'Hospitalet de Llobregat (; es, Hospitalet de Llobregat), often shortened to L'Hospitalet or just L'H, is a municipality of Spain, located to the immediate southwest of Barcelona, in the autonomous community of Catalonia. It is part of the Barcelona Metropolitan Area. By population, it is the second largest in Catalonia and the sixteenth in Spain. It is one of the most densely populated cities in the European Union. Name The name of L'Hospitalet (literally, 'the small hospital' in Catalan) makes reference to a hostel. The name of the river Llobregat is added as an accompaniment. Antoni Tàpies i Puig, 1st Marquess of Tápies (; 13 December 1923 – 6 February 2012) was a Catalan People, Catalan painter, sculptor and art theorist, who became one of the most famous European artists of his generation. Life The son of Josep Tàpies i Mestre and Maria Puig i Guerra, Antoni Tàpies Puig was born in Barcelona on 13 December 1923. His father was a lawyer and Catalan nationalism, Catalan nationalist who served briefly with the Republican government. Due to this, Tàpies grew up in an environment where he was very much exposed to a cultural and social experiences of leaders in the Catalan public life and its republicanism. Manolo Hugué
Manuel Martinez Hugué, better known simply as Manolo (29 April 1872 – 17 November 1945), was a Catalan Spanish sculptor in the noucentisme movement. Although a friend of Pablo Picasso, his style was much closer to that of Aristide Maillol. Biography Manolo was born in Barcelona in 1872, the son of a general who soon abandoned his child to go fight in the Ten Years' War, and of a mother who died when Manolo was still young. He was friends with Pablo Picasso and a part of the circle at the 4 Gats, and lived in Paris from 1900 to 1909, where he was one of the people welcoming Picasso and introducing him to the artistic circles of the city. He was one of Picasso’s closest friends at the Bateau Lavoir, together with people like Guillaume Apollinaire and Max Jacob. Jaume Huguet
Jaume Huguet (; 1412–1492) was a Catalan painter. Originally from Valls, he moved to Tarragona to stay with his uncle Pere Huguet, who was also a painter. When they moved to Barcelona he was exposed to modern trends of the time. Between 1440 and 1445 he worked in Zaragoza and later in Tarragona, where he was influenced by the Flemish style of Luis Dalmau. A retablo from Huguet is in the Monastery of Pedralbes, while another, depicting the ''Adoration of the Magi'' (or ''Epiphany'') is housed in the Chapel of St. Agatha in Barcelona's Palau Reial Major. A number of works by Huguet, including The Consecration of Saint Augustine, are held in the collection of the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain.
