L'Assassins
L'Assassins was a Surf/Garage rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota that formed in 2010 and has released 3 EPs, toured in Europe and played several festivals, including the "Girls Got Rhythm" festival and the "Memory Lanes Block Party". The band members have previously played with artists such as XOXO Judy, the Shortcuts, and Brittani Senser and have a "common love of bad ass rock'n'roll, big hair, and sassitude!" History The band formed in late 2010 and played their first show in April 2011. They originally performed without a name before eventually settling on the name L'Assassins, a name which they describe as being not grammatically correct in any language. Lead singer Tea Simpson is a fan of rockabilly, punk rock and outlaw country, she is also influenced by old B movies such as Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! and Vixen!. Thee Headcoatees
Thee Headcoatees were an all-female garage band formed in Chatham, Kent, England in 1991. They were part of the Medway scene. The members were Holly Golightly, Kyra LaRubia, Ludella Black and "Bongo" Debbie Green. Formation Thee Headcoatees were formed by Billy Childish as a backing group for his band Thee Headcoats. Ludella Black's previous band The Delmonas had performed the same function for Childish's earlier bands, starting with The Milkshakes. Their songs were principally written by Billy Childish and were songs that did not suit his own acts. After Holly Golightly did a cameo appearance with Thee Headcoats, Childish added her to The Delmonas lineup; soon thereafter the band was renamed Thee Headcoatees. First Avenue (nightclub)
First Avenue & 7th St Entry are two historic music venues housed in the same landmark building in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. The nightclub sits on the corner of First Avenue North and 7th Street North, from which the venues get their names. The two are colloquially distinguished by locals as The Mainroom and The Entry. The building was constructed in 1937 as the Minneapolis depot of the Greyhound Lines bus system and operated for 31 years. Allan Fingerhut purchased the facility in 1970 and converted it into a nightclub. During the 1980s, First Avenue flourished and became a landmark in the music and entertainment industry, playing a seminal role in establishing the '80s funk rock sub genre via the Minneapolis sound, and being the primary local venue for hometown star Prince.
