Kırklareli University
The Kırklareli University was founded at 2007 under the administration of the Trakya University Rectorate Enver Duran. The university is based on a strong background of the Faculty of Engineering, built at 1992. The university has four faculties, two institutes, seven vocational schools and a school of health, with nearly 10,000 students, more than 300 academic and 200 administrative staff. The university is a member of the Balkan Universities Network. In 2008 the university held a competition on who could design a new logo. The winning logo was one resembling the Emblem of Macau. The university did not pay the award money as it received concerns that the logo may be plagiarised. Kırklareli
Kırklareli () is a city within Kırklareli Province in the East Thrace, European part of Turkey. Name It is not clearly known when the city was founded, nor under what name. The Byzantine Greeks called it Sarànta Ekklisiès (''Σαράντα Εκκλησιές'', meaning ''forty churches''). In Greek language, modern Greek it is known with the same name, too. In the 14th century this was translated to Turkish language, Turkish and called "''Kırk Kilise''". Following the establishment of the Turkish Republic in 1923, sanjaks became cities and on December 20, 1924, Kırk Kilise's name was changed to ''Kırklareli'', meaning ''The Place of the Forties''. The denomination ''Kırklareli'' was already used years before 1924, for example in the contemporary literature concerning the Balkan Wars of 1912–13. Trakya University ( tr, Trakya Üniversitesi), was established on July 20, 1982. The university is located in Edirne, at Turkey's European side (Eastern Thrace). Enver Duran
Enver Duran (born June 19, 1945 in Bursa) is a Turkish medic specialising in thoracic-cardiovascular surgery, a university professor and Chancellor (Rector) of the Trakya University, Edirne 2004-2012 (July) and since 2013 Dean of the Fakulty medicine of the Istanbul Arel University. Biography His education began at Bursa Reşit Pasha Primary School in 1951-1956 followed by Bursa Osmangazi Secondary School in 1956-1960 and Bursa High School for Boys in 1960-1963. Balkan Universities Network
The Balkan Universities Network or Balkan Universities Association (BAUNAS) is an association of universities in Southeast Europe. In its present form the body was created after the breakup of the SFR Yugoslavia and the end of the Yugoslav Wars. Association facilitates the regional cooperation in the context of expansion of higher education sector caused by the establishment of new private and public universities (in addition to traditional schools with their existing institutional links). Association helped in the exchange of experiences in the implementation of the Bologna Process at Balkan universities. The aim of the network is the exchange of know how and experience in research and education, mutual acceptance of certificates, encouragement of professors and students for more mobility between the universities and the use of support programs for student exchange. T24 is a Turkish online newspaper. History T24 was launched on 1 September 2009. Initial staff of T24 were consisting of former ''Tempo24'' employees.
