Kárpátalja Football Team
The Kárpátalja football team (, hu, Kárpátaljai magyar labdarúgó-válogatott) is a team representing the Hungarian minority in Carpathian Ruthenia, a historic region mostly located in western Ukraine's Zakarpattia Oblast. It is a member of ConIFA, an umbrella association for states, minorities, stateless peoples and regions unaffiliated with FIFA. History Kárpátalja joined ConIFA in 2016, first competing in the 2017 ConIFA European Football Cup as an invited team. They lost their first ever international game 1–0 against host nation Northern Cyprus, but defeated South Ossetia on the final day to finish 3rd in Group A and put them in the 5th place play-off. A 5–4 penalty shootout win over Ellan Vannin ensured that they finished 5th overall. Due to their inactivity after the tournament, Kárpátalja failed to qualify for the 2018 ConIFA World Football Cup. Nicosia Atatürk Stadium
Nicosia Atatürk Stadium ( tr, Lefkoşa Atatürk Stadı) is a multi-purpose stadium in North Nicosia, Northern Cyprus. It is the largest stadium in Northern Cyprus. It is currently used mostly for football matches and hosted some matches for the 2006 ELF Cup. It also serves as the home of Çetinkaya and Yenicami of the KTFF Süper Lig and Gençlik Gücü of the KTFF Birinci Lig. The stadium holds 15,000 people, and has a tartan track that is used for athletics competitions and for walking by the locals. The stadium also hosts celebrations in national holidays, and dance shows, attended by thousands. The plans to build a stadium with a capacity of 20,000 in northern Nicosia were announced on 20 November 1975, when a sign was placed on the fields that would be the site of the stadium. Szarvas (; sk, Sarvaš; german: Sarwasch) is a town in Békés County, Hungary. Name Placename Szarvas originated from the old Hungarian word ''szarvas'', which means deer. Upper Hungary is the usual English translation of ''Felvidék'' (literally: "Upland"), the Hungarian term for the area that was historically the northern part of the Kingdom of Hungary, now mostly present-day Slovakia. The region has also been called ''Felső-Magyarország'' (literally: "Upper Hungary"; sk, Horné Uhorsko). During the Habsburg–Ottoman wars, Upper Hungary meant only the northeastern parts of the Hungarian Kingdom. SC Beregvidek Berehove is an amateur Ukrainian football club from Berehove, Zakarpattia Oblast. Berehvydeyk plays at Druzhba Stadium. 2016 ConIFA World Football Cup
The 2016 ConIFA World Football Cup was the second edition of the ConIFA World Football Cup, an international football tournament for states, minorities, stateless peoples and regions unaffiliated with FIFA organised by ConIFA. The tournament was hosted by the Football Federation of Abkhazia, with the Abkhazia team becoming the first host nation to win the tournament. Host selection Following the 2015 ConIFA European Football Cup, in which the teams from Abkhazia and South Ossetia were refused visas by the Hungarian government, ConIFA announced that they had delivered strong objections to what they saw as political interference.
