Kyle Shelford (born 13 September 1996) is an English professional rugby league footballer who plays as a and for the Warrington Wolves in the Super League. He previously played for the Swinton Lions in the Betfred Championship. Background Shelford was born in Wigan, Greater Manchester, England. He is the son of former late New Zealand international Adrian Shelford. Career Wigan Warriors In 2016 Shelford played once for Wigan and once for Swinton on dual registration. Dual registration refers to an arrangement between clubs whereby a player continues to be registered to his current club and is also registered to play for a club in a lower league. The system is mostly aimed at young Super League players who are thought to be not quite ready to make the step up to ‘week in, week out’ first team duties but for whom first team match experience is likely to be beneficial for their development but this has been extended to RFL Championship, Championship teams dual registering with League 1 (rugby league), League 1 clubs. RFL League One (for sponsorship reasons currently known as the Betfred League One) is a professional rugby league competition based in the United Kingdom.
