Kwame Geathers (born October 4, 1990) is a former American football nose tackle. He played college football at Georgia. College career Geathers entered the 2013 NFL Draft after his junior season. Professional career 2013 NFL Draft San Diego Chargers Geathers was signed by the San Diego Chargers on May 13, 2013. He was waived by the Chargers on December 2, 2014. Cincinnati Bengals On December 12, 2014, Geathers was signed to the Cincinnati Bengals' practice squad. On August 31, 2015, he was released by the Bengals. Nose Tackle
A defensive tackle (DT) is a position in American football that will typically line up on the line of scrimmage, opposite one of the offensive guards, however he may also line up opposite one of the tackles. Defensive tackles are typically the largest and strongest of the defensive players. Depending on a team's individual defensive scheme, a defensive tackle may be called upon to fill several different roles. These roles may include merely holding the point of attack by refusing to be moved, or penetrating a certain gap between offensive linemen to break up a play in the opponent's backfield. If a defensive tackle reads a pass play, his primary responsibility is to pursue the quarterback, or simply knock the pass down at the line if it is within arm's reach. Robert Geathers
Robert Lee Geathers, Jr. (born August 11, 1983) is a former American football defensive end. He played college football at the University of Georgia. He was selected by the Bengals in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft. Geathers played his entire professional career for the Bengals and became a regular starter a defensive end in 2005, his second season in the NFL. With the Bengals, Geathers has been known for making sacks and returning recovered fumbles. Geathers has many family members who played football at the college or professional level; his uncle Jumpy Geathers played in the NFL from 1984 to 1996, and his father Robert Geathers Sr. was a 1981 draft pick. Jeremy James Geathers (June 19, 1986 – February 11, 2017) was an American football player. He was signed by the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League as an undrafted free agent in 2008. He played college football at Nevada-Las Vegas. Early life Geathers attended Andrews High School in Andrews, South Carolina. College career After his high school graduation, Geathers attended Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kansas. While at Butler, Geathers was a member of the Grizzlies football team. Geathers spent two seasons playing for the UNLV Rebels before forgoing his final season of eligibility to enter the 2008 NFL Draft. James Allen "Jumpy" Geathers (born June 26, 1960) is a former American football defensive tackle. At the time of his retirement, he was the only active player who played at Wichita State University, which discontinued its football program following the 1986 season, making him the last WSU football player to play in the NFL. Geathers was drafted by the New Orleans Saints with the 42nd overall selection in the second round of the 1984 NFL Draft. Career He played defensive tackle at Wichita State, and then for thirteen seasons in the National Football League (New Orleans Saints 1984-1989, Washington Redskins 1990-1993, Atlanta Falcons 1994-1995, and Denver Broncos 1996). He was a part of the Redskins team that won Super Bowl XXVI. Clifton Geathers (born December 11, 1987) is a former American football defensive end in the National Football League (NFL) for the Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins and Pittsburgh Steelers. He was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He played college football at the University of South Carolina. Early years Geathers attended Carvers Bay High School.
