Kvernes Municipality
Kvernes is a List of former municipalities of Norway, former municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1964. Originally, it encompassed the whole island of Averøya, part of the Romsdal peninsula, part of the island of Nordlandet, and part of the island of Frei (island), Frei. Over time it gradually got smaller until 1964, when the municipality was merged into Averøy Municipality. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Kvernes where Kvernes Stave Church (built in the 14th century) and the Kvernes Church (built in the 19th century) are both located. Nordmøre
Nordmøre (English: North- Møre) is a traditional district in the Norwegian county of Møre og Romsdal. The area comprises the northern third of the county including the municipalities of Kristiansund, Averøy, Tingvoll, Surnadal, Aure, Halsa, Eide, Sunndal, Gjemnes, and Smøla. The only town in Nordmøre is Kristiansund. Of these ten municipalities, three are located (mainly) on islands: Kristiansund, Averøy, and Smøla and seven lie on the coast (including between, adjacent to, or at the end of, fjords): Tingvoll, Surnadal, Aure, Halsa, Eide, Sunndal, and Gjemnes; no municipalities are completely landlocked. Øre, Norway
Øre is a small village area in Gjemnes Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The village is located along the Batnfjorden, about half-way between the villages of Batnfjordsøra and Torvikbukt. Øre Church is located in this village. Schei Committee
The Schei Committee ( no, Schei-komitéen) was a committee named by the Government of Norway to look into the organization of municipalities in Norway post-World War II. It convened in 1946, and its formal name was (The 1946 Committee on Municipal Division). Its more commonly used name derives from the committee leader, Nikolai Schei Nikolai Andreas Schei (9 May 1901 – 25 May 1985) was a Norwegian jurist and civil servant. Bremsnes
Bremsnes is a former municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1897 until its dissolution in 1964. Bremsnes municipality surrounded the Bremsnesfjorden and it included parts of the islands of Averøya, Frei, and Nordlandet. Bremsnes essentially encircled the town of Kristiansund on the west, south, and east sides. The administrative centre of Bremsnes was the village of Bremsnes, where Bremsnes Church is located. Kornstad (municipality)
Kornstad is a former municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1897 until its dissolution in 1964. The municipality encompassed the western part oft the present-day Averøy Municipality on the island of Averøya, plus a small area in the present-day Hustadvika Municipality on the mainland Romsdal Peninsula to the west of the island. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Kornstad where Kornstad Church is located. Eide
