Kvalsundet
Kvalsundet is a strait in Hammerfest Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The strait separates the island of Kvaløya from the mainland. The strait is crossed by Kvalsund Bridge, which connects Kvaløya to the mainland and is the world's northernmost suspension bridge. Kvaløya, Finnmark
Kvaløya ( sme, Fálá) is a large island in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The island is located in Hammerfest Municipality. The town of Hammerfest is located in the western shore of the island. Other villages on the island include Forsøl, Rypefjord, and Stallogargo. The island is connected to the mainland via Norwegian National Road 94 which crosses the Kvalsund Bridge in the southern part of the island. Most of the settlements on the island are on the western shore along the highway 94. There is a ferry connection between Kvaløya and the island of Seiland to the southwest. Tides are the rise and fall of sea levels caused by the combined effects of the gravitational forces exerted by the Moon (and to a much lesser extent, the Sun) and are also caused by the Earth and Moon orbiting one another. Tide tables can be used for any given locale to find the predicted times and amplitude (or " tidal range").
