Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah ( ar, الشيخ مشعل الأحمد الجابر الصباح, translit=ash-Shaykh Misha`al al-ʾAḥmad al-Jābir aṣ-Ṣabāḥ; also spelled Meshal, Mishaal or Meshaal; born 27 September 1940) is the Crown Prince of Kuwait. Aged , he is the oldest crown prince in the world. Biography Mishal is a son of Kuwaiti Emir Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and paternal half-brother of Emir Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. He studied at the Hendon Police College and graduated in 1960. He later served as the head of State Security from 1967 to 1980. Afterwards, he worked in the Ministry of Interior until he became the deputy chief of the National Guard with the rank of acting minister (by protocol designation) in 2004. Prior to settling in Kuwait, the Al Sabah family were expelled from Umm Qasr in southern Iraq by the Ottomans due to their predatory habits of preying on caravans in Basra and trading ships in Shatt al-Arab. According to one oral tradition, the Al Sabah family settled across various regions in southern Iran and Iraq, until they finally settled in what is now Kuwait around the early 1700s. Sheikh Sabah III Al-Salim Al-Sabah (12 April 1913 – 31 December 1977) ( ar, صباح السالم الصباح) was the second ruler of Kuwait after it gained independence from Great Britain, titled the Emir of the State of Kuwait and Commander of the Kuwait Military Forces from 24 November 1965 until his death in 1977.
