Kuria District
Kuria District was an administrative district in the Nyanza Province of Kenya. Its capital town is Kehancha (sometimes spelled as ''Kihancha''). The district has a population of 256,086 (2009 census) and an area of 581/km2. It is inhabited by a minority group of people fondly known as Kuria people also referred to as Abakuria (Mkuria/Wakuria) in Swahili. They are scattered across the Kenya- Tanzania border and they are neighbors to the Kisii, Luo and Maasai people. Following the Referendum of 2010 and the promulgation of the Constitution of Kenya, Kuria District became part of Migori County which is under the leadership of His Excellency Governor Dr. Ochilo G. M. Ayacko. together with his deputy Hon. Joseph Gimunta Mahiri. Districts Of Kenya
Sub-counties are the decentralised units through which county governments of Kenya will provide functions and services. Except for the parts which fall under urban areas, sub-counties will coincide with the constituencies created under article 89 of the Constitution of Kenya. Sub-counties will be headed by a sub-county administrator, appointed by a County Public Service Board. Under the former Constitution of Kenya, the Provinces of Kenya were subdivided into a number of districts (''wilaya''). Samson Mwita Marwa
Samson Mwita Marwa (1932–2022), also known as Mwita Nyagakende, was a Kenyan teacher and politician who served in the National Assembly of Kenya from 1969 until 1974 as a member of the Kenya African National Union. Biography Samson Mwita Marwa was born in 1932 in the Bukuria District, then part of the British Kenya Colony. He was educated at the intermediate school in Itibo, and later attended the teachers' college in Kisii. Marwa worked as a teacher from 1957 until 1963. Marwa's political career began in 1961, when he co-founded the Bukuria Political Union, serving as its inaugural chairman. In 1963, Marwa was elected to the Nyanza Regional Assembly, representing the Kuria District as a member of the Kenya African National Union. Nuru is a Kiswahili word that means "light." The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) is the current ruling political party in Kenya. Migori County
Migori County is a county in the former Nyanza Province of southwestern Kenya. It is located in Southwestern Kenya and borders Homa Bay County (North), Kisii County (North E), Narok (South East), Tanzania (West and South) and Lake Victoria to the West. The county also borders Uganda via Migingo Island in Lake Victoria. The county is headquartered by Migori town, which is also its largest town. Nyanza Province
Nyanza Province (; sw, Mkoa wa Nyanza) was one of Kenya's Provinces of Kenya, eight administrative provinces before the formation of the Counties of Kenya, 47 counties under the Constitution of Kenya, 2010 constitution. Six counties were organised in the area of the former province. The region is located in the southwest part of Kenya around Lake Victoria, includes part of the eastern edge of Lake Victoria, and is inhabited predominantly by the Luo (Kenya and Tanzania), Luo people and Kisii people.
