Kunjumon
K. T. Kunjumon (born 15 November 1953) is an Indian film producer and writer, politician active in Tamil and Malayalam films. He began his career co-producing several Malayalam films, often working with director P. G. Viswambharan. His first Kollywood project, Pavithran's Suriyan as Sarathkumar's first solo lead role was a success. Kunjumon's second venture, S. Shankar's directorial debut ''Gentleman'' was a major success and set several records for Tamil film production. His subsequent films, ''Kaadhalan'' (1994) and ''Kadhal Desam'' (1996) were also successful, while ''Ratchagan'' (1997) became the most expensive Tamil film ever made on release. Career After finishing his school education, Kunjumon worked in the travel agency business and then the hotel industry, before he became a film producer. Gentleman (1993 Film)
''Gentleman'' is a 1993 Indian Tamil-language heist action film co-written and directed by S. Shankar in his directorial debut, and produced by K. T. Kunjumon. The film stars Arjun, Madhubala and Subhashri, with M. N. Nambiar, Manorama, Goundamani, Senthil, Charan Raj, Vineeth, and Rajan P. Dev in supporting roles. It revolves around a respected Madras-based businessman who moonlights as a thief who steals from the rich and gives to the poor for their education. ''Gentleman'' was released on 30 July 1993, and distributed by Kunjumon himself as distributors were reluctant. Despite this, the film became a box office success, running for over 175 days in theatres besides winning three South Filmfare Awards (including Best Film – Tamil and Best Director – Tamil), four Tamil Nadu State Film Awards (including Best Actor and Best Director) and five Cinema Express Awards. The film stars Prabhu Deva and Nagma (in her major Tamil cinema debut), while Vadivelu, Raghuvaran, Girish Karnad, and S. P. Balasubrahmanyam play supporting roles. It focuses on a college student who falls in love with the state governor's daughter. The governor opposes this, and unknown to anyone, plans on toppling the state government. Kunjumon decided to collaborate with Shankar for the second time after the success of ''Gentleman'' (1993), and the story Shankar developed was that of a romance between an ordinary man and a wealthy girl; to increase the scale of the project, Kunjumon incorporated the cold-war between the then Tamil Nadu chief minister J. The film starred Vineeth and debutant Abbas in the main leads, along with actress Tabu (in her Tamil debut) while S. P.
