Diddillibah is a semi-rural locality in the Sunshine Coast Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Diddillibah had a population of 1,403 people. History Its name comes from a local Aboriginal word ''dhilla'', which means "coarse grass" or "carpet snake" and ''ba'', which means "place". Also known as the "valley of the snakes". Maroochydore ( ) is a coastal town in the Sunshine Coast Region, Queensland, Australia. The town was subdivided from the Cotton Tree reserve by Surveyor Thomas O'Connor in 1903. The land was acquired from William Pettigrew who had a timber depot at what is now Wharf Street. Its name comes from the Yuggera language word ''Muru-kutchi'', meaning red-bill and referring to the black swan, which is commonly seen in the area. Maroochydore is a major commercial area of the Sunshine Coast with most shopping precincts located in the central business district. The black swan (''Cygnus atratus'') is a large waterbird, a species of swan which breeds mainly in the southeast and southwest regions of Australia. Within Australia, the black swan is nomadic, with erratic migration patterns dependent upon climatic conditions. It is a large bird with mostly black plumage and a red bill.
