Kulam (film)
''Kulam'' is a 1997 Indian Malayalam-language film, directed by Lenin Rajendran, loosely based on the historical novel '' Marthandavarma'', by C. V. Raman Pillai. The film stars Suresh Gopi, Bhanupriya, Vijayaraghavan and Jagathy Sreekumar. The music direction of the film has composed by MG Radhakrishnan. Plot The film begins with an oath undertaken by Etu Veetil Pilamar, eight lords of Venad kingdom lead by Kudamon Pillai that they never withdraw from their decisions. Thampi, son of the king of Venad arrives and reveals that he intend to assassinate Marthandavarma, the rightful heir to the throne. All except for Kazhakkoottathu Pillai swear their alliance to Thampi. Thampi is smitten by Kudamon Pillai's beautiful niece Subadra since they first met when she was 10. Subadra's mother Devayani was murdered by Kudaman Pillai for marrying someone he does not approve of. Thampi attempts to rape Subhadra aided by her aunt. Lenin Rajendran
Lenin Rajendran ( ml, ലെനിൻ രാജേന്ദ്രൻ) was an Indian film director and screenwriter who worked in Malayalam cinema. He served as the Chairman of Kerala State Film Development Corporation from 2016 to January 2019. Career Beginning his film-making career as an assistant to director P. A. Backer, Rajendran made his directorial debut with ''Venal'' (1982). From his first film to his latest one, Edavappathy (2016), Rajendran has been consistent with the quality of his films, not surrendering to market forces even while using the form and stars of popular cinema. Narendra Prasad
Raghava Kurup Narendra Prasad (26 December 1946 3 November 2003) was an Indian actor, playwright, director, teacher and literary critic. He was born at Mavelikkara in the erstwhile Kingdom of Travancore. Appreciated for his body language and performance by the audience and critics, he is known for portraying character roles and villain characters in Malayalam films. He studied at N. S. S. Hamsanadam
Hamsanadam (pronounced hamsanādam) is a rāgam in Carnatic music (musical scale of South Indian classical music). It is a pentatonic scale (''audava'' rāgam, which means "of 5"), as it is sung in current days.''Raganidhi'' by P. Subba Rao, Pub. 1964, The Music Academy of Madras It is a derived scale (''janya'' rāgam), as it does not have all the seven ''swaras'' (musical notes), from the 60th ''Melakarta'' rāgam ''Neetimati''. Kapi (raga)
Kāpi is a popular rāga in Carnatic music, the classical music of South India. ''Kāpi'' is a janya rāgam of ''Kharaharapriya'' with a meandering vakra scale. Typically performed at slow and medium speeds, it is capable of inducing moods of devotion, pathos and sadness in the listeners. ''Kāpi'' is different from the Hindustani raag and thaat ''Kafi.'' The equivalent raag in Hindustani is Pilu. Structure and Lakshana Kāpi is an audava-vakra sampoorna rāgam with an ascending pentatonic scale and a descending scale with seven notes, but not in a descending order. Mohanam
Mohanam is a rāga in Carnatic music (musical scale of South Indian classical music). It is an ''audava'' rāga (or ''owdava'' rāga, meaning pentatonic scale). It is usually described as a ''janya'' rāga of Harikamboji (28th Melakartha Raga). However, alternate opinions suggest that ''Mechakalyani'' may be a more appropriate classification based on the lakshana of the raga. Mullanezhi
Mullanezhi Neelakandan Namboothiri (1948–2011), popularly known as Mullanezhi, was a Malayalam poet, playwright, lyricist and actor from Thrissur in Kerala state of India. He was awarded the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award twice: in 1995 for the drama ''Samathalam'' and in 2010 for the poetry collection ''Kavitha''. He wrote more than 70 songs for 25 movies and also acted in films like ''Uppu'', ''Piravi'', ''Kazhakam'' and '' Neelathamara''. Bharath Gopi
Gopynathan Velayudhan Nair (2 November 1937 – 29 January 2008), popularly known by the stage name Bharat Gopy, was an Indian actor, producer and director. He was one of the first actors to be associated with the New Wave cinema movement in Kerala during the 1970s. Bheeman Raghu
Bheeman Raghu (born 6 October 1953) is an Indian actor, singer, dancer, former politician and police officer (retired) who appears mainly in Malayalam films and is best known for his villainous and comedy roles. In a career spanning over three decades, he has appeared in more than 400 films, and has started doing comic roles as well. Raghu's debut movie was ''Bheeman'' (1982), from which he got his stage name. By profession, Raghu was an inspector in the Kerala Police force. Madavoor Ramachandran (മടവൂർ രാമചന്ദ്രൻ; 1945–2011) was a Malayalam film actor. Acting career Paravoor Ramachandran started his acting career as a theatre actor through ''Perumbavoor Nataka Sala'' at the age of 17. Later, he was an active member of the ''Kalidasa Kalakendram'' during 1973-75 and played major roles in many plays. His theatre career spanning around 25 years won him public acclaim.
