Kubat Pasha Madrasa
Kubat Pasha Madrasa ( tr, Kubat PaÅŸa Medresesi) is a historic madrasa building in Tarsus district of Mersin Province, southern Turkey. Location The madrasa is located in the old city center south of the main street, where some other historical buildings, including the Grand Mosque of Tarsus, Mausoleum of Danyal and Saint Paul's Church, are also situated. The madrasa building faces the Mausoleum of Danyal to the west. History Madrasa was the main religious educational institution in Islamic countries. The Kubat Pasha Madrasa was founded in 1557 by Kubat Pasha, brother of Piri Pasha, a member of the Ramazanid house and a vassal bey of the Ottoman Empire. In 1517, Ramazanids accepted the suzerainty of the Ottomans. The madrasa underwent many restorations in the past. During the restoration in 1969-1970, it was redesigned to be used as a museum, and it lost some of its original characteristics by this works. Ramazan Kubat (born 4 October 1974), better known as Kubat, is a Turkish folk singer and composer distinguished with his particular style and his applied use of electronic instruments in his songs. Early life Kubat was born in Antwerp in 1974. His father was an Alevi Turk and his mother is a Sunni Turk from Karacalar village in EmirdaÄŸ. His uncle is a hafiz from the same village. He is now based in Turkey since over a decade, he was advantaged by the opportunities and outlets his talents found already at a very early age. He started to play his father's "cura" (a smaller version of baÄŸlama) at the age of five, he sang in a restaurant at age eight and was even admitted in his teens into a 300-member church choir as its only Muslim member according to his web site. His family has an artistic background: his uncle Åžemsettin Kubat is an important poet of Turkish folk literature who is based in EmirdaÄŸ. Çağla Kubat (; born 16 November 1978) is a Turkish actress, model, windsurfer and beauty pageant titleholder. She is member of Fenerbahçe sailing & windsurfing team. She is 5 feet 10 (1.80m) tall. She was born in İzmir. She graduated from Italian High School of Istanbul and Istanbul Technical University with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Michaela Kubat (born 10 April 1972) is a former German football striker. Her career started at Grün-Weiß Brauweiler and with Brauweiler she won the German Cup in 1991. After banding up with TSV Siegen in 1992 she won another German Cup and two national championships in 1994 and 1996. She moved than to FC Rumeln-Kaldenhausen and won the German Cup again in 1998. Michaela Kubat had 11 appearances for the German national team, scoring twice. She had her first score in her debut in 1991 against Switzerland.
