Kristy Doyle
Kristy Doyle (born 8 December 1980) is an Australian netball player. She showed early promise as a shooter for the New South Wales state team in 1998, making the Australian 21 and under squad in the same year as a 17-year-old. She represented the Sydney Sandpipers in the national Commonwealth Bank Trophy in 1998 and 1999, and impressed enough that she was awarded a scholarship to the Australian Institute of Sport in 2000. This saw Doyle spend two years training at the AIS and playing in the AIS team in the South Australian state league, the Dairy Farmers Cup. She was ultimately chosen as the vice-captain of the national 21 and under team and promoted to captain in 2001. Netball
Netball is a ball sport played on a court by two teams of seven players. It is among a rare number of sports which have been created exclusively for female competitors. The sport is played on indoor and outdoor netball courts and is specifically played in schools. Netball is most popularly played in Commonwealth of Nations, Commonwealth nations. A common misunderstanding of the sport's origins has resulted in the mistaken belief that netball was created to prevent women from playing basketball. However, the sport is the result of Clara Baer's misinterpretation of its rules. Sydney Sandpipers
Sydney Sandpipers were an Australian netball team based in Sydney. Between 1997 and 2003, they represented Netball New South Wales in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy league. Together with Sydney Swifts and Hunter Jaegers, they were one of three teams to represent NNSW in the competition. In 1997 Sandpipers were founder members of the league. They continued to play in the competition until 2003, when they were replaced by Hunter Jaegers. Commonwealth Bank Trophy
The Commonwealth Bank Trophy, also referred to as the National Netball League, was the top level national Australian netball league between 1997 and 2007. The league was organized by Netball Australia. Its main sponsor was the Commonwealth Bank. Melbourne Phoenix were the competition's most successful team, winning five premierships. Sydney Swifts were the second most successful team, winning four premierships. Between them, Phoenix and Swifts played in every grand final, except in 1999 when Adelaide Thunderbirds won the second of their two premierships. In 2008, the Commonwealth Bank Trophy league was replaced by the ANZ Championship. A scholarship is a form of financial aid awarded to students for further education. The Netball South Australia Premier League, also referred to as the Netball SA Premier League is a state netball league organised by Netball South Australia. On a national level, the league is effectively a third level league, below Suncorp Super Netball and the Australian Netball League.
