Kristina Borjesson
Kristina Borjesson is a freelance journalist. She edited an award-winning collection of essays, '' Into the Buzzsaw: Leading Journalists Expose the Myth of a Free Press'' (2002), for which she wrote a chapter detailing her investigation of the TWA Flight 800 crash. ''Into the Buzzsaw'' won the Arthur Rowse Award for Press Criticism and an Independent Publishers Award in the current events category. The book was also a New York Public Library "Books to Remember"selection. Borjesson's second book, ''Feet to the Fire: The Media After 9/11, Top Journalists Speak Out'' contains a series of interviews with distinguished American journalists and news executives discussing the problems of press coverage of the run-up to the Iraq War as well as the war itself. TWA Flight 800
Trans World Airlines Flight 800 (TWA800) was a Boeing 747-100 that exploded and crashed into the Atlantic Ocean near East Moriches, New York, on July 17, 1996, at about 8:31pm. Eastern Daylight Time, EDT, 12 minutes after takeoff from John F. Kennedy International Airport, on a scheduled international passenger flight to Rome, with a stopover in Paris. All 230 people on board died in the crash; it is the third-deadliest Aviation accidents and incidents, aviation accident in U.S. history. Accident investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) traveled to the scene, arriving the following morning amid speculation that a terrorist attack was the cause of the crash. TWA Flight 800 (film)
''TWA Flight 800'' is a 2013 documentary television film promoting discredited conspiracy theories about the 1996 crash of TWA Flight 800. The film explores claims that a missile strike had actually downed TWA Flight 800, contrary to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) conclusion that a short circuit caused the 1996 fuel tank explosion. The film was written and directed by Kristina Borjesson, and co-produced by Tom Stalcup, who also served as the narrator. The film runs 90 minutes and first aired on Epix on July 17, 2013. Stephen Pope of '' Flying'', despite finding Stalcup's reasoning flimsy and strongly disagreeing with the conclusion, expressed his belief that the film was made in good faith and not with cynical motives.
