Mikhail Yefimovich Krichevsky ( ua, Михайло Юхимович Кричевський, russian: Михаил Ефимович Кричевский; 25 February 1897?, Karlovka, Poltava Governorate, Russian Empire – 26 December 2008, Donetsk, Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine) was a Jewish-Ukrainian supercentenarian and the last surviving World War I veteran who fought for the Russian Empire. Krichevsky was mobilized into the Imperial Russian Army in 1917 and was sent to the Southwestern Front, after graduating from the Kiev Military Engineering School as an engineer-''praporshchik''. Vasyl Hryhorovych Krychevsky ( uk, Василь Григорович Кричевський; January 12, 1873 in Vorozhba village, now Lebedyn Raion – November 15, 1952, in Caracas, Venezuela) was a Ukrainian painter, architect, art scholar, graphic artist, film art consultant, pedagogue and master of applied art and decorative art. He is the designer of the 1918 Ukrainian coat of arms, state seals, banknotes. He was the brother of Ukrainian painter Fedir Krychevsky. Biography Vasyl Krychevsky was born in the village of Vorozhba, near Lebedyn, to a family of eight children where he was the eldest. His father Hryhoriy Yakymovych Krychevsky was a county state doctor of Jewish descent who converted to Orthodox Christianity and married a Ukrainian woman, Praskovia Hryhorivna. Krychevsky had little formal education, but a deep interest in Ukrainian folklore and art history. Fedir Krychevsky ( uk, Федір Кричевський; – July 30, 1947) was an influential Ukrainian early modernist painter. He was the brother of graphic designer Vasyl Krychevsky. Biography Krychevsky was born in Lebedyn, in the Kharkov Governorate of the Russian Empire, to the family of a Jewish country doctor who converted to Orthodox Christianity and married a Ukrainian woman. He graduated from the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in 1901 and the Saint Petersburg Academy of Arts in 1910. He traveled in Western Europe for a year, and studied briefly with Gustav Klimt in Vienna. He moved to Kiev, where he served as professor and director at the Kiev Art School from 1914 to 1918. In 1917, he was one of the founders and a rector (from 1920 to 1922) of the Ukrainian State Academy of Arts. Mykhailo Krychevsky
Mykhailo Krychevsky or Stanisław Krzyczewski or Krzeczowski (died 3 August 1649) was a Polish noble, military officer and Cossack commander. He fought for the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth against various Cossack revolts and Crimean Tatar factions. During his time as a Cossack commander, Krychevsky befriended Bohdan Khmelnytsky, who would go on to stage a revolt against the Polish-Lithuanian throne. After being captured by enemy forces in 1648, Krychevsky was ransomed to Khmelnytsky and was named an acting hetman of Khmelnytsky's rebel forces. Krychevsky was mortally wounded in the battle of Loyew on 31 July 1649 and died in the custody of Polish forces.
