Kpone Katamanso Municipal District
Kpone-Katamanso Municipal District is one of the twenty-nine districts in Greater Accra Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Tema Municipal District, which was created from the former Tema District Council, until the eastern portion of the district was split off to create Kpone-Katamanso District on 28 June 2012, which was established by Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 2031; thus the remaining part has been retained as Tema Metropolitan District. However on 15 March 2018, it was later elevated to municipal district assembly status to become Kpone-Katamanso Municipal District, which was established by Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 2271. The Districts of Ghana are second-level administrative subdivisions of Ghana, below the level of region. There are 261 local metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies (or MMDA's). History The districts of Ghana were re-organized in 1988/1989 in an attempt to decentralize the government and to assist in development. The reform of the late 1980s subdivided the regions of Ghana into 110 districts, where local district assemblies should deal with the local administration. By 2006, an additional 28 districts were created by splitting some of the original 110, bringing their number up to 138. In February 2008, there were more districts created and some were upgraded to municipal status. This brought the final number to 170 districts in Ghana. Tema Oil Refinery
The Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) is one of two crude oil refineries in Ghana. History The refinery is in Tema, the most industrialized city in Ghana. It is from Accra, the capital of Ghana. The refinery was first named the Ghanaian Italian Petroleum Company (GHAIP). It was licensed as a private limited liability company in 1960 as a fully owned Italian company – ANIC Societa per Azioni and AGIP Societa per Azioni of Italy were its major shareholders. In April 1977, the Government of Ghana became the sole shareholder. The name of the refinery was changed to the Tema Oil Refinery in 1991. TOR is authorized by law to operate both as a refiner of crude oil and seller of petroleum products. Capacity The refinery covers a total area of 440,000square meters. La Nkwantanang Madina Municipal District is one of the twenty-nine districts in Greater Accra Region, Ghana. The Gulf of Guinea is the northeasternmost part of the tropical Atlantic Ocean from Cape Lopez in Gabon, north and west to Cape Palmas in Liberia. The intersection of the Equator and Prime Meridian (zero degrees latitude and longitude) is in the gulf.
