Koster Islands
The Koster Islands (Swedish: ''Kosteröarna'') situated 10 km west of Strömstad, Sweden, comprises an archipelago surrounding the two largest islands, South Koster and North Koster. South Koster has an area of 8 km2 and North Koster an area of 4 km2. The landscape, dominated by smooth bedrock, bears witness to volcanic activity and subsequent wear due to the Ice Age. The rocky coastline is broken by many sandy beaches the largest being ''Kilesand'' on South Koster's east side overlooking the 200 meter deep Koster Fjord. Communities South and North Koster are communities with a permanent population of around 340. There is a school, sports hall, shops, church, and galleries where handcrafts and arts are exhibited. Both farming and fishing are important, and during the 1600s Koster exported lobster to Holland. There are several small harbors, popular with sailors from both near and far. Koster Site
The Koster Site is a prehistoric archaeological site located south of Eldred, Illinois. The site covers more than 3 acres and extends 30 feet down into the alluvial deposits of the Illinois River valley. Over the course of its excavation between 1969 and 1978, Koster produced deeply buried evidence of ancient human occupation from the early Archaic period (BC 7500) to the Mississippian period (AD 1000). The soil strata contains a total of 25 distinct occupations each separated by additional layers of soil, making the site exceptionally well-preserved. The site includes one of the oldest known cemetery sites in eastern North America. The cemetery site has provided researchers with evidence that Early Archaic civilizations had specific burial practices and buried their dead in mounds, often with numerous individuals buried together. Other significant discoveries made at the site include early evidence of North Americans using stones to grind food and keeping domesticated dogs. ...

Grebbestad Bryggeri is a brewery in the town Grebbestad on the Swedish west coast. It is a relatively small and local brewery producing their products mainly for the use of the local county Bohuslän. Their main production are in two lager beers called Koster and Granit, but other brews occur as well. Beers, the Grebbestad brand Koster is a lager beer with 3,5% alcohol and is available for purchase mostly in local supermarkets. The name comes from the local islands of Koster. Granit (Swedish for Granite) is a lager beer . It is sold in local supermarkets at 3,5% alcohol and at 4,8% at Systembolaget. The name is inspired by the cliffs of Bohuslän, where Grebbestad lies, which are made of granite. For Christmas a special Christmas beer is made, just like Swedish brewer tradition says. Koster-class Mine Countermeasures Vessel
The ''Koster'' class is a class of five mine-countermeasure vessels currently in use by the Swedish Navy. Built between 1982 and 1993 as part of the seven-strong s, the last five ships of the class were given a comprehensive midlife upgrade between 2007 and 2010, which resulted in HMS ''Koster'' becoming the lead ship of the newly upgraded class of MCMVs. After the upgrade, the Swedish Navy expects that it will serve on for another 15 to 20 years. An identifying feature of the ''Koster'' class is the fire control radar on top of the bridge. Koster Commando was a light infantry regiment of the South African Army. It formed part of the South African Army Infantry Formation as well as the South African Territorial Reserve. History Origin Operations With the SADF During this era, the unit was mainly used for area force protection, search and cordones as well as stock theft control assistance to the rural police. With the SANDF =Disbandment= This unit, along with all other Commando units was disbanded after a decision by South African President Thabo Mbeki to disband all Commando Units.
