Kostars Members
Kostars was an alternative/ pop-rock side project formed by Vivian Trimble and Jill Cunniff while on a headlining tour with Luscious Jackson in 1995. Trimble and Cunniff, who needed an additional outlet, wrote under the name Kostars and released the album ''Klassics with a "K"'' in 1996. The album was recorded at Luscious Jackson drummer Kate Schellenbach's home studio. It featured drums by Schellenbach and a guest guitar spot by Gabrielle Glaser (also of Luscious Jackson), as well as Gene and Dean Ween of Ween, and was engineered/recorded by Josephine Wiggs, bass player of the Breeders, marking her first full-length engineering project. A few years later, Wiggs and Trimble would release a self-titled album together as Dusty Trails. Gene Ween
Aaron Freeman (born March 17, 1970), better known by his stage name Gene Ween, is an American singer, guitarist and a founding member of the experimental alternative rock group Ween. Freeman, along with childhood friend Dean Ween (Mickey Melchiondo), started the group in the mid-1980s. Freeman announced his departure from Ween in 2012, shortly after releasing ''Marvelous Clouds'', his first solo album. After leaving Ween, he stopped using the name Gene Ween and performed under his birth name Aaron Freeman. In 2014 he formed a new five-piece band called Freeman. In 2015, Freeman returned to using the Gene Ween name for his "Gene Ween Does Billy Joel" concerts, saying it was a positive thing: In November 2015, Ween announced a February 2016 reunion for three shows in Colorado, with later dates subsequently announced. An all-female band is a musical group in popular music that is exclusively composed of female musicians. This is distinct from a girl group, in which the female members are solely vocalists, though this terminology is not universally followed. GR2 Records
Grand Royal was the Los Angeles, California-based vanity record label set up in 1992 by rap group Beastie Boys in conjunction with Capitol Records after the group left Def Jam Recordings. ''Grand Royal'' was also the name of a magazine written and published by the group. Described as a publication that "came to define part of Generation X," the total distribution of the six issues of ''Grand Royal'' was estimated at 300,000 copies. Due to mounting debts, Grand Royal went out of business in 2001. Its assets were sold off via auction on Bid4Assets; these assets did not include any rights to Beastie Boys music. The assets and back catalog were purchased by a group of fans who in turn started GR2 Records. In 2016, GR2 sold the rights and master recordings of Grand Royal's second release ''My Crazy Life'' to a member of the band Dead Fucking Last. Dusty Trails
Dusty Trails is an American music duo consisting of Vivian Trimble (formerly of Kostars and Luscious Jackson) and Josephine Wiggs (formerly of the Breeders). Trimble provides vocals and Wiggs sings harmony vocals. Their 2000 debut album, ''Dusty Trails'', has been described as mood music and is heavy on keyboards, percussion and bass. It has also been compared to 1960s French and Brazilian pop. Half of the album's songs are instrumental and the other half feature Trimble on lead vocals. The album also includes guest vocals from Emmylou Harris on the track "Order Coffee". Three more songs are also available on the '' Happy Accidents'' (2000) film soundtrack. The Breeders
The Breeders are an American alternative rock band based in Dayton, Ohio, consisting of members Kim Deal (rhythm guitar, lead vocals), her twin sister Kelley Deal (lead guitar, vocals), Josephine Wiggs (bass guitar, vocals) and Jim Macpherson (drums). The earliest incarnation of the band was formed by Kim Deal and Tanya Donelly in 1989 as a side-project alongside their full-time bands Pixies and Throwing Muses respectively. To record their debut album, 1990's '' Pod'', Deal and Donelly recruited bassist Josephine Wiggs of The Perfect Disaster and drummer Britt Walford of Slint. Ween is an American rock band from New Hope, Pennsylvania, formed in 1984 by Aaron Freeman and Mickey Melchiondo, better known by their respective stage names, Gene and Dean Ween. Generally categorized as an alternative rock band, the band are known for their irreverent, highly eclectic catalog of songs inspired by funk, soul, country, gospel, prog, psychedelia, R&B, heavy metal, and punk rock.
